I love using a jet lighter, but sometimes I end up with an end that's too short, and run the risk of melting parts of the paracord I didn't mean to. This arc lighter kinda looks a bit safer in that sense. Going to try this out, thanks for the vid!

I actually got that exact lighter a few weeks ago. I myself wasn't too happy with how it worked as a whole so I have been sticking with the butane torch guy. Awesome, video, thank you.

I feel like an arc lighter might be better for me since I don't work with paracord as often as I do more natural materials. I used to have a lighter that I used specifically for paracord, but in between uses it dried up and I didn't have fuel for it at the time. So I think I might try one of those arc lighters out.

Hey man, I commented on your last video about the “aurora” case😅 I meant AirPods case (autocorrect). I’m pretty sure an AirPod case would have a similar design to the coin pouch you made just with a slightly different shape and structure. If you could make a video on this that would be great. Keep up the good work 👍

My question is does it blacken the cord. It seems like a lot of the paracord you're melting Has some black in it so it's hard to tell. The fluid lighters As long as you It out of the flame Don't seem to blacken , but if Get it in the flame You may end up end up with some blackening.

What happens when the paracord touches drips on the Arc Liter? Will it be Ruined at that point or can it be cleaned?
@paracordwizard3 жыл бұрын
Arc lighters are not really a good fit for paracord work. There is a very high probability that the melting paracord will contact one or both electrodes and leave a deposit of nylon or polyester on the contact. Both compounds are insulators (will not conduct electricity) and therefore may distort the electrical discharge or completely suppress it. And if you try to remove any deposits from the fragile electrodes they will likely be damaged which will render the lighter useless. Arc lighters are really meant for paper, straw, tobacco, and similar dry material. And in order to generate 3000 volts from the internal battery, the circuitry consumers a huge amount of energy. So you normally have only a few mins of continuous use before a recharge is required. I would stick with butane fueled small torches.

@@jerimiahabraham6118 then they should have arc lighters with wider gaps between electrodes to be able to be effectively used for cigars and paracord alike

It looks interesting, but the jet lighter would be my choice at the moment.

I got a plasma lighter for Christmas but it sadly is not good for paracord
@landraver903 жыл бұрын
If you can find one with a single arc they are far more useful and suitable for working with paracord. You are able to use the single arc like a knife to very cleanly cut as well as melt ends. I’ve used mine for a couple of years now and wouldn’t be without it 👍

To answer your question, NO. There is a big difference between a Tesla coil and an electrical arc. An electrical arc has relatively low voltage and high amperage to make the spark. The Tesla coil spark is the opposite. I’m sure you’ve seen videos of people standing in the middle of an arc from a Tesla coil.
@TheWeaversofEternity3 жыл бұрын
To be fair, I don't think I said or asked if they're the same. I just simply meant that these lighters are often referred to as tesla coil OR arc lighters by the manufacturers and places selling them.
@jaysgood103 жыл бұрын
To be fair, “Tesla coil arc lighters” sounds a bit more intriguing (clicky) than ‘Electrical Arc lighter’. I’m sure the manufacturers of arc lighters realize this, and use that to their advantage. Tesla sells well these days. Thank you Sir Weaver!
