It's sad for kids who get left out of 'cool kids' groups because their parents can't afford or buy into the hype. Then there are parents who actually force their kids to wear high end brands, I've seen that working at Louis Vuitton, these rich ass parents who bring their teenage kids in to buy them a $400 bracelet or $500 belt, even a $2000 bag for their kid and sometimes the kid looks like it's a chore. If the kid isn't interested why are you forcing them to dress 'rich'?

Yes and no. There are buyers who are influencers. If they change their mind for whatever reason, the rest will follow. One cool boy or girl in school tweets, “AF sucks” and the rest will take that cue to move on.
@mysteryperson72425 жыл бұрын
T Knickerson people who follow the crowd to “fit in” are basic. That’s completely what kids aren’t doing nowadays. Speaking from a highschool senior’s standpoint, kids like to be different and wear something that stands out from the crowd, if A&F would change the companies viewpoints up a bit a whole new crowd would come into these stores. The CEO’s are too old to understand new style and need to change either the times or just go.
@Knickerson5 жыл бұрын
Mystery Person - not to pull an age thing, but we said that as well back in our high school/college days. It sounds trendbreaking, until it becomes popular to break the trend, and then it’s not. Hush Puppies were a thing in the 70s, and then they weren’t ... until the 00s, when kids started to wear them because no one was wearing them, until someone noticed that they were wearing them. What did we do when we didn’t want to wear what no one else was wearing? We shopped at the thrift store. Nothing new.
@TheBooban5 жыл бұрын
Sam Sam I wouldn’t call them researchers. Its news media. Fake news media. They have to blow up something to make a story, when really, nobody cared until the news told you its really important even if its not. After hearing it everyday, people take it for the truth.

So I found good knockoffs at JCPenney, Kmart, sale Liz Claiborne, lookalike polo, and Tommy. I win best dressed every year, even over my richer friends who shopped at AF. Yea, they turned off black consumers which is a shame because we LOVE spending money on name brand clothes. They could’ve hired some beautiful dark models.

John Control I’ve had CK’s and they didn’t keep their shape too long. Can’t speak on Levi’s/Lee’s as I haven’t owned any, but the jeans A&F carried were almost worth the cost. I was just saying I personally like them even though I no longer spent my money there. :)
@imnaynay5 жыл бұрын
John Control I guess it depends. The jeans I own from stores like Abercrombie and American Eagle have lasted longer and have fit me better than jeans I’ve had from other famous brands. The only pairs of other jeans I have that lasted longer were a vintage pair of Levi’s and some from Rag and Bone

As far as has their clothes are concerned they've always been very high quality from what I remember granted they were also very expressive
@smileandlaughs5 жыл бұрын
Their materials are high quality but their designs are abysmal. They basically tries to sell the brand at an inflated price.

Yeah their quality was pretty good. I used to buy them in my college years and they lasted very long. However recently I think they lowered down their quality. T-shirt would not last as long. Their design look in my eyes still looks the same. Not buying them anymore due to quality.

I remember when I went to my job orientation, after I got hired at the San Francisco/Market Street location, the managers told us that we got hired because of how we looked - we looked good, they said. Nope, not making this up.

In reality that is the way every single retail store hires, just other stores won't admit it so that they don't get a lawsuit. Just take it as a compiment.

Ryan Tang Lmao, I remember going to A+F in Taiwan years ago and they got those travelling white kids that teach English abroad to work there. It was so cringeworthy, especially since the Taiwanese were soo much better looking. Racism is so sad, I can’t imagine what people must have been through to become racist.

Ryan Tang I grew up at the border and middle and upper class kids from Mexico were obsessed with these brands, they would flock to these stores. I don't think they knew about the racism scandals. I remember thinking- how pathetic to be shopping at a place where you are not wanted! Sad.

The stores were so dark that I couldn’t see the prices lol. Despite the modern teen wasp vibe, they had great quality wools. Can’t really vouch for the other stuff though. It had it’s run as all retail does. I’m grateful for it’s association with my pre-teen and teen years. I’ll still remember that cologne smell till my nursing home days. 😂

I never in my life thought that i would wear Abercrombie past high school, but now 90% of the time someone asks what I’m wearing, it’s Abercrombie. I’m almost embarrassed to admit it given the company’s iffy history but I gotta say, they’re clothes are made to fit my body perfectly, there’s no tacky logo, and they’re made very well. Well done abercrombie, I thought I was just a weirdo for going back to an old brand but the numbers speak for themselves. Looking forward to seeing what happens with the new and improved brand from Here on out!

My father has some Abercrombie and Fitch clothing from the mid to late 1900's. It is rugged, and STILL wearable. This is clothing over 40 years of active wear and tear in the winter. This brand still catches my appeal in 2019 with their new twist on style. They offer a professional and laid back look, with quality clothing and designs. I think they're 2000-2013 phase was strictly for teens, but they seem to be on the right track again
