I found a way to bypass the Kindle Kids subscription when I set up my Kindle. You just need to hold the power button and reset the device when you get to that page. It will boot up to the home page and you don't need to set up the kids subscription.

I just got my Kindle Kids. I activated the Amazon Kids+, then changed it to a grown up Kindle. I discovered what may be my favorite thing of this unit! Omg! I love how when I open the cover, IT GOES STRAIGHT TO THE PAGE IM READING!! That was an annoyance that each time I had to "swipe" first. This is great!!

I agree that the reading awards would be great for the regular kindle. Encourage kindle owners to send in their request that Amazon do this. Unfortunately they don't sell the kids version in Mexico.

Oh my goodness thank you for this video! I just got the Kindle paper white Kids 8GB for $88! (It was on sale and I got 20% plus $5 off for trade in value of my super old kindle). I didn’t have to pay to remove ads and the case is so cute and nice quality! I didn’t even know Kindle Kids was a thing so this video was so informative and useful-thank you!

I bought this version and love it. I did except the kids subscription then went into my account and canceled it. I still have subscription till my expiration date and now I can just use it as a normal kindle without having to use the password for kids a Option it had me setup. And it was basically set up for me it found my WiFi and Amazon account without me having to do it. No ads is awesome. Still learning how to do the many things it has to offer but it’s a great experience.

It would be nice if points could be earned when purchasing ebooks, so they could either be used to pay for other ebooks, a subscription or maybe give discounts off of ebooks. That would entice to jump fully back into using the kindle full time

Odd that Kindle doesn't have this... Kobo has it, it's called Kobo Super Points, and you can earn them on most purchases and then use saved up points to buy other books.

The software is the same, you can choose if the device is set to kids mode or regular mode. What I want to see is the ability to link Goodreads accounts to the kindles rather than the Amazon account. We have four adults using the same prime account and the extra step of pulling out my phone to use Goodreads because the one on my kindle is my dad’s is a major flaw.

I was lucky to get it around Christmas for $114. So, I ended up buying a case I liked more. I, personally didn't like how the case fit. It fit very snuggly. But, I prefer those Sleeve/stand cases. Very happy with it.

@@Lolo-jq2df I love it! Once you get it, you can change in the settings if it is used by kids or an adult, after doing that, there is no need for any passwords at all! There is also no need to worry that it is only able to load kids stuff, the kindle kids and the 'normal' kindle run on the same software, so you can access all the books you want to after changing the settings :3

I have to start with that I love your videos! Just today I bought a paperwhite kindle (not kids) after watching your videos. I turned it on and linked my library card and after reading for a bit and stepping away it updated to the new software. I waited for Black Friday to purchase two for my "kids", but the signature edition which is what I purchased for the 32GB of memory, was not on sale. :-( If I had considered the value of the kids edition, I might have considered that. Anyway, both are enjoying their new Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition. It might not be worth the money for many; I am probably sensitized by those Kindles released with inadequate memory, such as the otherwise glorious Voyage. One of my "kids" had my Voyage and after trying to update it for her, having to remove most books, etc., I realized what was wrong with it. Apparently checking online it has 4GB. It acted more like 2GB when I wanted to update it.

I just subscribed to your channel. I realized I watch nearly all your vids about Kindles so it was just natural for me to get notified now. Great news! I saw today that Amazon was having a 1 day sale of the kids Paperwhite Edition (2021) today March 4th for $50.00 off and cost $109.00. I just so happened to get my bonus pay today from work too! It’s kismet!! I pulled the trigger and bought one. I am so happy you posted this video that told me the kids version can be converted to an adult standard version and how to do it. So with a $25.00 gift card I had already I bought a 2021 Kindle Paperwhite with all the kids version extras for UNDER $100.00 including tax. It arrives this Monday March 7th. That really surprised me! I thought these were backlogged. It’s a great day!!

@@Maneetpaul hello Maneetpaul and good Afternoon. The PW kids just arrived today. The setup went exactly like your video. I also have WiFi saved on Amazon and kindle came pre-registered. I setup then deleted a temp kids profile and have the normal home screen now. I will say the kindle came running the older version of the firmware just like yours. So just like yours I had to go and press update on it. The update was already pre-installed. I also looked at the device name and it says it’s an 11th generation Kindle. Nowhere does it say kids edition. Also before I downloaded any books I checked the storage space remaining and it says 5.97Gig available as expected. The kindle came with 52% charge. The case flips behind the kindle fine. There’s no tightness to the front flap. That’s plenty of storage and charge for me to start using it!! I have renamed my Kindle to “Kindle Me Softly” and just downloaded my first ebook onto it. I’m ready to read!!!!

@@Lolo-jq2df it has been a solid device! It’s the 8 gig model and I still have nearly 5 gigs available of space and I keep all the books I download free or not. I don’t do have audiobooks, Manga or Comics. Just standard ebooks from Amazon or side-loaded. Battery level is still solid. It drains a little faster than when new, but still weeks of battery and I use it 3-4 times a week. I know it’s prime day so if you can find one on the cheap do it!! 2 year warranty instead of 1 Free case though very limited selection No ads on Lock Screen to begin with. You’ll just have to turn off kid mode after setup and turn off auto-renew for Amazon kids time or something like that you get free for 1 year. Or least you did when I vm bought the kindle. After that it’s the same as any other PW. I hope it works out for you!

167ppi is tough. I don't understand why they sell a Kindle with that low of a resolution in today's world. It's a device designed for reading, at the bare minimum it should have a decent resolution. I hope you enjoy the new Paperwhite!

when tablets are in boxes and not connected to a network they can not be updated remotely, thus requiring the purchaser to update once connected to network. Amazon could have held off on the release of the new hardware while they waited for the software to be updated but they didn't, because then ppl couldn't buy them. great video, loved it by the way.

Kindle generally does cover if you break it under the warranty period though. They have been very good to me with their warranty, I broke my original Kindle Keyboard and it was replaced even back in the day.

The badges and reading stats are something I absolutely love about Kobo bc it is on the ereader. I have to keep airplane mode on my oasis so I cannot even use the stats on the kindle app because it won't communicate and if I turn it off my battery dies in a few days. 😞

I've been wanting a Paperwhite because though I love paper books, it's getting pricey! Sadly, the regular Kindle won't be delivered until March. Saw the Kids Paperwhite is currently on sale for $109, so I ordered it and it's coming on Wednesday. I picked up the kids version when it was on sale because of the warranty and case. I don’t love the case, but I want some case for travel. I leave it out of the case when at home. And I have a first and second grader. So I thought I might pull books from the kids library. So far I have read only books I already own, but I think I may use that occasionally. And it is super easy to flip back and forth between profiles.

I'd forgotten Kobo had awards and stats. I checked mine and saw I already had a few awards. I started checking various awards, and on the sixth one, my screen froze. Don't think I'll bother checking again, although I did like the first page that shows amount read. It doesn't track the books you read if you delete those books off your Kobo. When I finish a book, I delete it. This apparently deletes some of the tracking info (not all...I don't think) associated with it too.

It's June 2023. I saw this in the fine print: 5: Will my kid see Ads while using this device? Kindle Kids is automatically set up for your kid to enjoy an ad-free experience. However if you exit Amazon Kids using a passcode, sponsored screensavers will be displayed on the device's lockscreen. Looks like they stopped that work around on the ads... Edit: bought the kids kindle anyway. No ads after removing kids account.

I saw in the comment section (not sure if it was the US or German site) that the quality of the kids covers is low. The cover started faling part and it was the parent who was using it. And according to the father he was careful when using the kindle.

I got the PW Kids edition last month for all these reasons, and was lucky enough to also get it on sale/promotion. However, I wasn’t crazy about the matte black case. As someone who was accustomed to the faux leather Amazon case on my old PW3, this felt flimsy. My biggest concern is actually with how RAZER thin the side bezel of the included kids edition case is over the device; it always made me feel like I was going to get a paper cut from holding my Paperwhite! So anyway, I found a great 3rd party case that I like, and now this PW5 has unseated my old PW3 as my favorite tech device EVER.

Hey Maneet! I know this video was a year ago, but I finally went and bought a Kindle! 🎉. Anyways, when I got mine (I bought the Kids Edition, black cover), the cover was jet black and fabric like. I loved it, but I quickly figured out that the thing was a dust magnet. There was no way to get it off that I could find. When I used a wet piece paper, as soon as it dried, there were about a million little white dots that might’ve been the little crisps on the paper. Have you found anyway to clean your Kindle’s case? Yuklim Ka I just took delivery of my Kids 16GB edition. My primary account is with the Japanese store since I mainly want to use my Kindle as language learning tool. Since this my first Kindle ever, I expect a bit of a learning curve while going through the setup and getting the finer points just the way I want them to. While it isn't available in Australia* because Amazon Kids isn't available there, I do like that they finally ditched the basic Kindle and based the Kids Edition on the Paperwhite, which is great because the 300ppi display works wonders for illustrated novels, which looked awful on the old model with its awful (by 2019 standards) 167ppi display! KZbin recommended me your video after I searched for some other Kindle stuff, and I couldn't help but to watch it. As Amazon Kids services aren't available in Australia, I may do a video for (a future YT channel I haven't launched yet), that could be titled 'Can kids use the adult Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition?', possiblyp0p featuring a kid character as a virtual host. (9:49) That's interesting, because as a result of my unusual reading interests, I have a lot of books in my Kindle library that would show up as being 'made for kids'. I like peeking into other people's reading interests through their e-reader reviews. (12:58) As part of a secret project I had been working on and had shelved to work on other projects, I had imagined those reading achievements being an opt-in for teen/adult profiles! *I live in Singapore, but Amazon doesn't offer full Kindle support here. They offer ways for users to use the US Kindle Store, but I have my account set up to access the Australian store because I have a legitimate address there that I can use as the credit card billing address. I had previously considered changing my account region to the UK because I follow a lot of UK-based children's authors on Twitter, but decided not to.

EPUB will auto convert to MOBI through the website transfer, and you can convert yourself using Calibre pc app you can download. formats for kindle are AZW3, AZW, MOBI. I've read AZW3 is best. But the other two work fine.

Hi Mayur! Textbooks on Kindle aren't the best experience. iPads tend to be better for those.

do you have to set up your payment mode for the monthly kids subscription (after the free trial) beforehand? and if so, what are the payment modes (bc i dont have a credit card T___T), and will i not be able to move forward from the "activate amazon kids+" screen you showed if i dont set it up? thank you!

I don't remember exactly, but yes, I do believe you have to choose a payment method. You can choose the methods already linked to your Amazon account. It won't charge you until the trial ends.

Yeah, it's strange. I didn't pay too much attention to it because I deleted it afterwards anyways.

@@Maneetpaul I ended up using my Amazon account (which was fine) and then adding the kid. However, my "kid" has their own main account, so I will delete my profile and have my kid register with their account, and piggyback themselves as a kid on that (so that they can have two profiles and have the benefit of the free 1 year - whixu now can be cancelled within Kindle, apparently) . Make sense? Probably not! Ty for the great video!

My regular kindle paperwhite shipped without the update but it ended up doing to on its own when connected to wifi when left alone
