Matter support is critical for Narwal to integrate into its system. This would make Narwal the best choice for Apple HomeKit users.

AI chips are a game changer. I used to worry about robot vacuums sending data to the internet to learn, which felt like a big privacy, after watching this video, it turns out I had nothing to worry about. The data stays on the device. With the Narwal Freo Z Ultra, I can clean up without stressing about privacy!

This looks fantastic. That said, I will only upgrade when I see a smart vac that either has HomeKit direct connect (I can dream) or Matter.

Matter support is a must for every new robot vacuum that I‘d buy. As nice as manufacturer apps may be, for my smart home to be really smart, I need to be able to control and monitor the robot in my automations.

Just here to drive home the fact Narwal need to have matter support for their vacuums and hopefully this model. This will be my first robot vacuum I’ll purchase.

We got the Narwal Freo X on Prime day and love it. We have three dogs and just like you, I was always having to cut all the fur from the brush after each use on our old vacuum, but this new Narwal brush stays clean. It’s awesome!

Commented with Paul on X the one feature I like with switchbot you can buy separate an automatic water exchange system for clean/dirty to plumb in.

On their website this is an option, or will be. The product page has a single mention of it that says it’s available separately on their website, but I couldn’t find it.

Starting to do some serious research on robot vacuum/mops for my new house. with all the new releases lately, any chance an updated robot vacuum video coming soon? Maybe a comparisons video??? If not, what is your current go-to recommendation?
@ShaneCreatesКүн бұрын
Not planning on doing a comparison video at this point. At the moment, my go-to is the is this Narwal Freo Z Ultra. It's been great for me. I'm also using the SwitchBot K10+ for my upstairs areas (video coming soon. it's good mainly for just vacuuming). I have my eye on Narwal's new Freo Flow that was announced at CES this year, and will be available sometime this year. I might check that one out once it's available.
@jay-jay017Күн бұрын
@ Thanks Shane! I was really liking the features of the Narwal as well. Definitely a top contender.

If this was HomeKit compatible (Matter or direct) and if the potential water line hookup mentioned on the product page actually exists I’d probably buy this. As it stands, I may be sticking to the SwitchBot S10. No pets, wife and I are pretty neat, so I think we’ll get by just fine. (And I like the De/Humidifer refill potential there.)
@ShaneCreates5 ай бұрын
SwitchBot S10 is also a great product. I've tested that one also. And yes, the Humidifier refill (now available btw) is pretty awesome. I think the AI features and the software (Narwal App) on the Freo Z are slightly better than SwitchBot's. The Freo Z is definitely the best at object detection and avoidance. The water line hookup does exist and is available to purchase online. I'm pretty sure it's the same module that's used for the other Freo models (I would confirm with Narwal before purchasing).

I pre-ordered this vacuum just because its a.i. Is amazing but if I would have found another company that had Homekit or Matter integration I would have ordered that one instead just to be able to schedule cleanings automatically based on when the last person leaves the house. If this could eventually do that too it would be dominating the market.

So narwal finally decided to say screw it were adding a camera and auto empty system even though they did that to ensure customers were getting a product that would not give them issues long term.....at least they finally listened to the customers who wanted these things in a narwal and now they have them.

How does the shortcuts work? Can you specify which room?
@ShaneCreates5 ай бұрын
Unless I've missed it, I do not see a way to specify specific rooms within shortcuts. You can create shortcuts with the following commands: - Freo Mind Vacuum & Mop - Freo Mind Vacuum then Mop - Freo Mind Vacuuming - Freo Mind Mopping - Drying and disinfection - Pause Cleaning - Resume Cleaning - End Cleaning - Back to BS - Clean Mop - Locate Robot

Thanks for watching! Good question. Narwal states "Clean up to 150 square meters in 3 hours." Of course results and battery life may vary depending on the cleaning modes you are using and other factors (Freo mode, higher suction or mopping settings, etc.).

At 2:52 you can see the screenshot that briefly covers privacy. By default, nothing is uploaded to the cloud. Personal data and home environment data is kept locally within the AI chip. Additionally, you can opt out of the "real photo" feature that captures a photo of obstacles for later viewing.

Hey Shane how do you think this would do on Swisstrax flooring where the dust settles below the floor tiles? Also any word if these can be connected to home plumbing?
@ShaneCreates5 ай бұрын
I'm not sure about the Swisstrax flooring. 12,000 PA of suction power is about as high or higher than any other robot vacuum that I've seen. Not sure if it's enough to pull dust up out of the crack without specifically testing that floor type. The base station can be connected to the home plumbing. There is a module that you can buy separately to do so. I'm pretty sure it's the same module that's available for the Narwal Freo X (I would double check to be sure). Here is the link for that: shrsl.com/4o5xi (affiliate link)

Since they are not available to purchase just yet, I'm not sure the exact cost of the accessories. I know you can get a full year of accessories for free if you sign up during the early bird special. What if you house has two floors… how does it manage that?
@ShaneCreates5 ай бұрын
It supports multi-level mapping so you can create multiple maps in the app.
@tonifonseca91782 ай бұрын
yes now i found that out .wont let me split my kitchen from my living room . i have literally had more problems with just set up, It couldn't dock itself, ugh took off the baseboard pad {one of the reasons I wanted it.} now it docks then it vacuumed house and it didn't go over carpets ? went home but waits to let dirt from bin out till new job, but that didn't happen. Then i tried to block my kitchen to vac and mop after(vacuuming) The the mop heads never touched the kitchen floor? Should have said this before had so many error messages for water tank being empty but it wasn't. finally got that to work then above happened and no dust bin empty happened, in between..Think thats a weird thing to have a humidity dryer for dust bag but see why its necessary. I want to love this vacuum but damn!!

Ours won’t map home correctly, makes walls obstacles and thus merges 3 rooms into giant living room in the app. Customer service is slow and won’t send us a new unit to try until we send back unit. But I think it’s an app issue perhaps. And it has hard time going over very thin rugs on our vinyl flooring. Anyone having these issues?

Very nice, but matter is key these days.
@thanostimestone68134 ай бұрын
Matter and HomeKit accessibility is the main focus for anyone who has an Apple ecosystem. I know you like the Phillips hue system but without out of the box HomeKit matter as well as connecting with a 5ghz WiFi network. As many people are upgrading their home network hardware with 6e-7e network routers. Even if it’s not a deco or Orbi. You can still have issues with the backhaul. Meaning signal can drop off with 2.4ghz connectivity. I’m still waiting for 5ghz exclusive lights. wtf. Are these manufacturers naive that people who spend 1k for a vacuum cleaner don’t have the cash to fork out for an orbital 6e router or HomePods. I mean come on. Get with the program before you valuate your company and go public at 6 billions dollars when only 1 in 10 have a matter network.
