Can Am 450 Fuel Pump Replacement

This is the fuel pump replacement on a 2017 Can am outlander 450. This bike would crank for a second and go back dead. I cleaned the idle air control valve first and that did not fix the problem.#ad

Thanks for sharing this! I watched your video many times before tackling it myself. Just did this pump replacement on my Can-Am Ryker today. I followed the steps as you described and it worked out perfectly. I have a couple of complaints about the new pump kit though, the pressure regulator had a broken screen of some sort so I had to use the old one. The solder joints on the new motor terminals were really poor. I ended up removing the leads and soldering the new motor to the old wires. I think next time I will just by the whole assembly since it's only $70 more and would save a lot of hassle. On step I added to mine was to depressurize the fuel system by disconnecting the fuel pump electrical connector then running the engine until it dies (about 5 seconds). This helped clear out fuel in the lines. Thanks again for posting this video 🙂

Great video. I saw after I diagnosed and disassembled mine. I did splice and heat shrink wiring. Didn't change relief valve.

The only good replacement besides the OEM one is the quantum pump , otherwise you’ll have more issues constantly

Which color wires or for what on the plug if you don't mind? I'm trying to troubleshoot my 15 450L, the pump won't come on wanted to check make sure it was getting power before I just replace the pump. I checked the purple/black right next to the black wire and it gets power for a second when turning on key but they power comes off of it.

I have seen the injectors cause that before but it could be the pump as well.

I have a 2018 570 it starts but as soon as you give gas it backfires through the intake, could that be fuel pump?

Probably fouled plug. Bad fuel pump will cause it to die
