Did this on mine which is a 2009 400 and it didn’t start without it but it still ran the fan and threw the code, thanks for the video.

No problem glad it helped!

Do you have the link for that sending unit. I have the same machine. Fan works but radiator keeps over heating causing coolant to come out. Radiator is clean. Not sure what’s going on. Any idea?

If the fan works with 12v applied and the fuse and relay are good it's likely the sending unit. The one I ordered was from Caltric and can be found here: a.co/d/5vOnRRg

To this day, months to overheat and goes into limp mode

I would say thermostat isn't opening , bad thermostat, if it is overheating

My fan work with 12v and it works with temp sensor unplugged but fan doesn't seem to work with temp sensor plugged in. I have had it hot running the atv

Have you checked the resistances on the sending unit (coolant temp sensor) while hot and cold? If the sending unit doesn’t operate within the correct resistance values it won’t tell the ECU to trigger the fan relay. If it’s been in mud/water try unplugging the connector to the ECU & cleaning the terminals, if they’re corroded the ECU might not receive the correct resistance values from the sending unit.

@@WreckedRevival ... I checked the Ohm reading on the old unit 2.83 but not hot. I just bought a new one to see if the fan would come on , I haven't noticed it yet. didn't check the new one

@@goodboyringo9716 it should be starting around 1000 ohms of resistance cold then drop to about 180ohms for the ECU to trigger the relay. It will take quite awhile just idling to get the sending unit hot enough to trigger. ✌️

@@WreckedRevival ... Thanks I'll try checking it again but like I said .... I checked the temp sensor OHM and got 283 whether that is 2830 not sure but that was out of the engine. I didn't check it hot. and put a new sensor in the bike. It doesn't over heat just don't hear the fan ever kick on.

No problem! I've added a link to the sending unit in the description, this is the one I'd used: amzn.to/48GvdQL

You can use a trickle charger to test the fan?
@WreckedRevival Жыл бұрын
Yes you can , it's a little sketchy and would recommend a power probe but it's a lot lower amperage and a little safer than a battery. If you strip some wire ends then clamp them with the trickle charger clamps or attach alligator clips for the positive/ground, then use the other ends to power probe the fans connecter..just be careful not to short the leads.
