Great video Chris. I’ve used a Battery Tender since purchasing mine. However, I only use it when I know I’m not going to ride it for a week or more.

Hey Chris. I purchased a trickle charger with an adapter that just wires up to the battery with a connecter that comes out in the top inside of the frunk. I just open the frunk and connect after each ride. I did this year round with motorcycles and saved a lot of batteries. Enjoyed the video.

I have the same type of setup. Optimate 1 trickle charger with a port in the frunk.

I heard the same about people having battery issues. I put on one of the Antigravity Battery monitors and it notified me of low cranking voltage several times. I replaced my battery and all good. I have a 2023 RT-Limited that I bought 10/10/23. Replaced the battery after only 4800 Miles. Even a Spyder Tech I know said the batteries are junk. As for Cold Weather riding everyone is different, I've been out at 24º here west of Boston and I didn't have anything on my head other than my helmet (Shoei NeoTech 2) and a Neck Gaiter. The Fairing and Windshield on the Spyder block the wind without any issues. I have a Heated Liner Jacket and Fleece Lined Pants and rode all Winter and plan on doing the same this year.

Chris, since you ride your Can-am nearly every day, you probably don’t need a battery tender. While the computer is always powered, it should drag voltage down enough in a day or two to impact you. Once the machine is running, your charging system will bring the battery back to full charge. That being said, it doesn’t hurt anything and it may give you piece of mind to know the battery is always topped off. Tim

I’ve wrestled with this, but like you said, “peace of mind” is a real thing.

I have a Scosche PowerUp with a Scosche powerup Quickconnect with SAE trickle charger adapter. Works like a charge.

I just Googled “Scosche PowerUp” and it looks very similar to my Buture jump starter.

I have a tender on mine but sometimes it might not get used for weeks if my Spyder was my daily ride I wouldn't bother with a tender.

I’ve thought about not using it but it will eventually get really cold and that’s what concerns me.

I replaced the stock battery with one from SlingMods (yellow case) that has separate mounts for accessories. I ran into the VSS fault codes with the old battery - my dealer did give me a trickle charger, and I bought a voltage meter. Since I swapped the batteries, I've had no need for either.

Interesting. I’m lucky so far, but it’s good to know there are options.

Chris, what mode do you ride in ... eco, normal or sport mode... Good video !
@SpyderChrisYT2 ай бұрын
Normal. I did a video on Eco. I don’t like it. The Spyder RTs don’t have a Sport mode.

Good insight into power supplies and spyder trickle charge, something I aim to check with the dealer prior to purchase. I wonder, are the trickle chargers safe to leave unattended say over night?
@SpyderChrisYT3 ай бұрын
I leave my Optimate 1 trickle charger connected every night in the cold season.

Oh Chris, you went and did what you said you'd never do and when you hear it done elsewhere, you say it's annoying (CB3). I agree, it is. Why did you do it? Ask for people to Subscribe and hit Like before they actually watched the video. You did. Tsk Tsk. Finger wagging. Lucy, you gotsome splainin to do! OK, I hit like. Yes, yes I did.

I’ve explained in multiple videos that I don’t like to ask people to hit “like” but will ask them to subscribe. Also, I don’t believe I’ve ever mentioned another channel name. But I appreciate you liking my video!
