Stake qualifying time in Spa 2024 was almost 5s faster than in 2004, even back then Giancarlo Fisichella driving for Sauber Petronas starting in 5th with 1:58.040... In 2024, Valtteri Bottas for Kick Sauber Ferrari was 14th with 1:54.764, so I can't see this video is realistic on comparing performance.

In 2004 the qualifying took place in wet conditions. Also, they only had one run to set a time back then. Fisichella would have never qualified 5th if it hadn`t been for the rain. Raikkonen set the fastest time of the race with 1:45.108. It is fair to assume that the pole position time could have been a lot faster.

Sauber was one of my favourite F1 teams in the V10 era. The 2004 Sauber sounds fantastic, looks awesome, and was very competitive. In comparison, their 2024 car makes it really difficult to find any reason to cheer for Sauber.

This Sauber was beautiful, I love this turquoise blue. Even if my favorite at the moment remains the Scuderia Ferrari F2001. We can also see the difference in width between the single-seaters of the 2000s and the single-seaters of today. But, good news, in 2026 the single-seaters should be smaller again (and prettier with a more refined design) given the regulations. I am delighted !

Funny enough, the Red Bull Sauber PETRONAS' C23 (2004) runs on Ferrari engines since '97 (rebadged as PETRONAS because why can't they), adding another famous name in 1 singular team.

I have to say though the '04 lost the race between the 2,I think it wins in sound. Don't get me wrong, my favorite engine sound is a big rumbling American V8, but i still really like the sound of that screaming V10 over the V6.
