Back in the seventys early eighty's, I was a member of my local civil defense, we were a group of Ham Radio operators that were involved in communications training to enable communication in the event of an attack on US soil, we also dig radiation checks with Geiger counters and maintained fallout shelters in our town.

I really enjoyed this video. A family adventure. That bus is a piece of automotive and American history. I'd say leave it full length, see if ya get a hold of a Detroit 671 with a Jake Brake, a good straight drive to match up to it, and make a camper out of it. That rear ladder on the back and the set up for the electrical wiring says it has good bones for being a camper.

With a long bus, you can make 2 rooms for you guys, bathroom, kitchchen, diner and lounge to sit in at the shows. By re-engining it you will have enough power to haul a trailer behind it with any other vehicle you need to show. Don't cut up the history. A long bus is so much more useful......

Hey Corey & Hanna! Absolutely love the content. Just a word of thought…even tho you’re not for hire, be mindful of your Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) when hauling equipment as such with the Welder Rig! I’m pretty sure if you’re over 26,001 lbs GVWR, it requires a Class A CDL. If you already have one, NVM. Surely, you don’t want to get stopped by a State DOT office and not be prepared. Keep up the good work!!

SWEET LOOKING BUS!!!! I would set it on a newer modern chassis with mainly air ride and air disc brakes. You could turn it into one AWESOME RV!!

Might be tough to find replacement windshield glass. I agree, shorter would look awesome! And as an old guy who was in the military and has worked in factories for over 40 years, please consider wearing hearing protection while driving and around loud equipment! It's one of the best safety things I've followed and I gotta thank the military for that training! You won't regret it! I always enjoy keeping up with all your content!

That bus has got so much character this would be a totally cool steampunk type of build it's already so unique and surprisingly complete you are going to have to really dig deep to improve on this one. . If you're shortening it hopefully you can salvage some of the original glass to be used at a later date. Honestly I think this is one of the coolest builds to hit the channel yet. Can't wait to see how this turns out.

I listened to a guy that traveled from New Hampshire to Kansas to pick up a bus. He also said Indiana roads were the worst potholed roads in the complete trip. He regretted the return trip to New Hampshire.

If you keep the back, shorten it, but I agree with comments that say get a shorty. If you shorten and not keep the back, make rear a ramp to haul. Or keep it the way it is. I'm excited to see what you guys build.

Don't make it into a short bus!! You'll lose all the history. You'll cut into the text on the side, lose the plugs, etc. You should make it into a nice Airbnb with patina on the outside. Park it at a lake and rent it out!! Cool stuff!! 😎

I’m new to the channel and was curious if the welder rig truck has a DT466? I noticed the International steering wheel and gauges. Interested to see the bus build in the future. I have a 1995 bus with a DT466 and dad has one with a T444E both are manual transmissions. They have made fun little projects. Both were low mileage buses and Dad drove the bus I own during its regular route days and I took my CDL test in the one he owns. Take care and I’ll be watching more!

I really like the bus. Back in the 70s I had a 5 ton that looked like that. We put a 308 black diamond in it with a 5an4 gear box. Not much for speed,but all the power. TKS for sharing guys, truly enjoyed the content.

I'd say long merch bus with a couple couches setup as a lounge, don't forget seat belts for safety 3rd! Looks like Cory needs to make a short tailgate for the welder rig, similar to a service truck tailgate. Maybe a couple pieces of angle with a slide-in/out gate. 🤔 Hold in pumpkins and other small cargo better. And a 1 ton hoist for lifting & setting big pumpkins! 😂 Could even put the ginpoles back on, for that matter.

Personally I would have the rear as car hauler and front caravan, put car in go to camp sites, drop car /truck set up camp go wherever you like, change site easily, thanks for sharing, all the best to you all

Go about a quarter of the way back. Make that the front quarter. Cut the sides out (partially) leave the roof, the floor becomes a deck. With the roof overhead... you know have patio, and a back door to inside the bus.... add a outdoor grill, TV, ceiling fan, fireplace and seating... outdoor patio ! The overall bus remains the same length. With awnings you triple the width. Lighten, speakers....

​@@Hannahwheatcustoms Think ratrod Italian villa...cut the sides open and curved 🤔 [arched] at the top .. allowing a covered patio in the back. Most would shorten it overall. Cutting the frame.. different frame.. done all the time.. others shorten the front and the back becomes a hauler deck... done all the time. This shortens it .. but.. keeps the overall wheelbase the same. The roof the same length. But move the back panel up keeps the door and ladder [graft it in, Corey can do it]. Cut arched openings on the side and back. Keeps the roof.. covered patio.. keeps the floor / deck. Inside minimal yet functional and comfortable.. table to bed.. counter, fridge, sink.. but the star is the patio out the backdoor.. Pull in hit the airbags drop it to the weeds... pull out the awnings.. and enjoy..

I think for the bus build it would be cool to build the front half of the bus into a camper type Then the back half can be a place to sell merchandise. I’m sure you will bag it so you can lower it down so you can get in and out Farley easy. Set your display up but the bus would be sideways and you could have an access in the back on the side! Can’t wait to see what you do with it
