It is really hard to admit you need to turn around, and I don't know why. I've gone way too far down some bad roads when not in a 4 wheeler. Nowadays, knowing that happens, I remind myself when I leave pavement it's ok to turn around, keep reevaluating, get and and scout if necessary, this isn't a dedicated 4 wheeler that can conquer anything.

One thing I like about Matt, his channel and the way he runs his business is that he doesn't necessarily keep people doing one particular thing. I have noticed he's thrown everyone into pretty much every position, don't know how to do it, no worries we'll figure it out together. Hats off to you for that, these people are learning new skills that they can take down the road in their life to utilize it in a career potential. Pretty cool
@doleph1Ай бұрын
Agreed. Cross-training your staff is always a smart strategy for a business and for the employees. It keeps the business from having to rely on a single person for any critical part of the business and makes the employee more valuable if they can step into another task/position without needing time to transition. There's no better teacher than hands-on experience and learning from your mistakes. Matt's method allows the team to make mistakes, but then turns it into a learning opportunity. The staff comes out of it more confident AND more experienced because of it. It's a huge part of what I love about this channel.

I agree as well. This is how I was trained at work. We service and install residential and commercial garage doors, windows, siding, man doors, and everything that goes with those as well. Its a great experience when you never know what you'll be doing the next week, or where you'll be even in a few hours with emergency calls. It never ceases to amaze me where people will try to take vehicles that don't belong on the trails that they are on and how far they actually make it sometimes before their luck runs out. I live in mud country in Mississippi and i used to have a 1979 Bronco sitting on 44 inch swampers. At least twice a month i'd have someone call me and ask if i could go out and pull someone out which was always fun for me. What amazed me is how far people would make it into areas that should have been impossible for them to go in the rigs that they were in. I just wish i had go pros then and had recorded all of them. Had my Bronco for 17 years.......man i miss the old girl.

@ Thank you sir for a reply that wasn’t disrespectful and demeaning 👍 You are absolutely correct…the first thing I learned as a teenager wheeling up and down the old ox cart trails to abandoned mines in Colorado was NEVER go by yourself. This little trip was a spur of the moment decision after checking OnX and seeing the rating of Green Level 3. They obviously have to update their rating…but still no excuse for going alone 🤦♂️
@paulhunter1735Ай бұрын
@@perrysaperstein3773 You're very welcome sir. First of all I learned long ago not to cast stones or try to degrade others for things that they do. Making mistakes is just a part of life and they often help you in the end if you learn from them. If you've learned from your mistakes then you have the opportunity to try to help others not to make the same mistakes that you have made, but you can't help them by berating them or trying to force your opinion on them. That just leads to anger, and confrontation and i've never seen that accomplish anything positive for you or them. You're appear to be an older gentleman like me and i'm sure that you have over the years tried to help others by passing on what you have learned in life like i have. The best we can do is hope that we can even in some small ways pass on the knowledge that we have learned from life's lessons and hope that the younger generations that come after us will consider it and maybe not make some of the mistakes that we have all made. My grandfather told me when i was a teenager that he didn't believe in giving anyone a handout, but he believed that you should always be willing to give a hand up so that when someone makes a mistake or falls and you help them up they have the chance to change their situation from that day on where a hand out would only help them for the moment. He also said that if you kick a man when he's down you're a coward and that what you do in that moment might keep them from ever trying again and help to screw up the rest of their lives. I was probably in my thirties before i really realized how right he was and how much he had helped me to become the man i was by passing on to me the things that he had learned from his mistakes. I've tried to live my life every day since then in a manner that would make him proud of me like i was of him. With so many young people that we all come across these days that are from broken homes and don't have someone in their life to try to guide them like my grandfather did with me it's even more important that we try to pass on what we've learned to the younger generation. I guess when i saw you step right up and say well i got that one wrong it made me think of my grandfather and all of the things he said to me came rushing back into view. If you've read this far i apologize for rambling and taking up this much time, but i wanted to make sure that i made sure that you understood that i wasn't trying to berate you or anything. I get a kick out of watching these videos and seeing some of the things that people get themselves into when going off road and laughing at myself when i think back to some of the crazy situations i've gotten myself into when i was going off road all the time. Take care sir and may God Bless and keep you and your family safe.
@perrysaperstein3773Ай бұрын
@ I definitely couldn’t have said that better myself. I spent 32 years as an airline pilot and learned how to pay my dues and start from the bottom of 5500 pilots who were senior to me. I got hired at a young age compared to most of the other pilots. As time went by and I worked my way towards the captain seat in the B777 I was usually younger than the guy in the copilot seat. The hardest part of being the kind of captain that my mentors were was to be able to command and teach these older guys in a way that didn’t come off as demeaning or disrespectful while at the same time maintaining the command structure. Your grandfather strikes me as the type of man who could easily be one of my mentors. Be well and keep sharing your experience. Sent from my iPad

The wrecker pulled the big rig out easily because the owner didn't chew up the ground messing about, he got help first.

Yep, he could have easily made that situation way worse, but he was smart and didn't keep spinning the wheels

Weld a receiver hitch on top of the toolbox so you can mount a little aluminum seat. Easy on, easy off.

I love that Kaitlyn is never afraid to do the narly stuff. She is nearly as good an off-road driver as Matt and Rory - she has won prizes to prove it. When she gets a bit older with even more experience, she'll be unbeatable.

I have a Santa Cruz and my family is in ranching. It does surprisingly well on trails that can be about as rough as those. Even the dct has had no issues. The main issues are tires and approach/departure angles especially with a hitch. It will happily tripod and keep going. Some of our trails are really steep and modern wranglers and tacomas will constantly overheat - the new Tacoma being the worst bc the transmission will just let go and the motor free spin. SC just marches up even without low ranches. Heck, the sc even does decent with river crossings as I regularly have it up past the belly and have had it near the top of those low headlights. I should take some videos but it’s just a day of work for me so I never think to. 30K miles of abuse so far with no issues. It could use a lift though
@perrysaperstein3773Ай бұрын
I definitely could have used a lift…I just didn’t imagine it would be from Matt and Kaitlyn 😂
