This is why you should be following the Fibonacci upgrade program. You only upgrade when the model number of the phone matches a Fibonacci number. I have the 13 Pro, I upgraded from the 8 and am waiting until the iPhone 21 and maybe if I live long enough the iPhone 34! This is the best way to spend the least amount to get significant upgrades in a timely fashion and not have to worry about paying excessive sums to get incremental changes on mature products.

Disagree, they wait for others to make the mistakes so that they can fix them before coming up on their own devices. Makes for slow progress (really too slow) but that’s why they’re the 1/2/3rd (idk) most valuable company and samsung and others are barely there in comparison.

That strategy is why they are one of the most valuable companies on the planet. Their job isn’t to make the most cutting edge phone, it’s to make fat margins by hopping on trends later, meaning they don’t have to deal with a high failure rate when used by consumers or issues in manufacturing. Everyone else works out the kinks and then Apple hops on and rebrands the tech to make it much more appealing (look at how Microsoft tried to push that stupid recall feature that screenshots ur computer once a second, while Apple emphasized the fact that your data isn’t stored anywhere besides your device [which I find really hard to believe]).

Actually Apple has been doing many new features including AI for years, since about 2017. They spend a great deal of time making sure to care for your privacy, something others don't care about. In this new flavor of AI called generative, they are doing as many commands of Siri as possible on the phone and store results in your Secure Enclave on the chip. If you have a more complex query, it sends you to a Private Cloud Compute which only answers questions and doesn't store your private data. Their private cloud runs on Apple silicon with a server OS designed by Apple which is quite unique.

iOS-18 will be available for iPhone-X models and iPhone-SE(2) - both of which will have more than enough CPU performance to handle A.I.

It’s generally a good video, but neglects to mention that apples other products (wearables and services for example) are growing every earnings call.

Not to be that guy but the idea of something as popular and successful as the iPhone needing to be “saved” because growth has stagnated of late is a great example of capitalist framing. I have a degree in business, I get what you’re saying but the fact that people generally accept framing it this way is kinda gross

Why does everyone keep forgetting that Gemini will be coming to Apple Intelligence as well in the future? Same goes for Claude. It is not meant just for GPT. With that being said, folks who use accessibility stuff when it comes to IOS 18, have a much brighter outlook if you're among the Apple camp.

Remember that CarPlay feature that is supposed to have full integration for modern cars? Yeah never heard about it again. Apple or any companies shouldn’t brag about things they haven’t released. Half the time it’s not working properly or just never released. Simply used as a hype tool to trick their followers.

iPhone needs saving?! Ummm…I love my iPhone. Don’t need more new things. Maybe cheaper price? 😅

I have zero interest in any of the AI features and I hope there’s a setting to turn off prompts for then which I’ll never choose to use. That said I am planning to upgrade my current iPhone 7 to a 16 Pro Max this year.

People love new stuff… but I mean… come on, $ 1800 CAD for another same phone (Pro Max), or add a bit of money and get something exciting like maybe Pixel Fold? iPhone have been the same for way too long. And as a beta user, not impressed by Apple Intelligence at all, in many ways it is worse than just using free GPT.

yes you are funding a kickstarter campaing! :p .. for most of the world, getting new feature sometime 'next year' may as well wait for next phone in Sep2025

The underlying problem is Tim Cook …. He has to go! He is making millions every year, but he can’t get AI ready on time ? He releases the same phone year after year … the Vision Pro failed ….what did he accomplish as CEO ? Nothing, it has been nothing but a continuation after Steve passed away …Tim has to go before Apple will suffer the same faith as Nokia & BlackBerry did ….

Also, I think it is important to highlight the cobalt scandal and boycott efforts from younger people who have showed how profit hungry and genocidal Apple is. It is directly funding the child slave labour in Congo and has been recently exposed to match donations to genocidal Israeli army under the pretence of charity. I know at least for people my age many of us have decided to not purchase a new phone unless our one is absolutely done for. And that when we do we will buy a second hand/refurbished older version.

Phones are just a very mature product at this stage, you can't expect the same levels of progression YoY that you did a decade ago. Even a decade ago Apple didn't push the boundaries too much with features. People buy iPhones for different reasons, for me (rightly or wrongly) its because I have an iPad, a MacBook, Apple TV etc, it all works together seamlessly, if you're not that engrossed in the "eco-system" then I don't really know why wouldn't shop around a bit, but if I'm being honest, there's not much variety elsewhere for something completely different unless you want a flip/fold phone.
