Thank you. Synaptic generation occurs in some areas within a very few minutes. Microglia constantly monitor synaptic activity, enhancing or reducing synaptic connections in a very specific way. A comment format is not the place to elaborate, as there's some research on long comments that lead one to conclude that it's a waste of effort for almost no utility. Those interested can explore the research, though that is not always translated into colloquial language.

I’m having loads of brain fog along with occasional gut issues but the brain issues are the toughest…
@TheHumanCondition2 жыл бұрын
We find that they go together-gut issues drive brain issues, through chemistry that crosses the gut and irritates the brain, or the other way when the brain is concussed it fails to regulate the gut through the Vagus nerves and the sympathetic nerves. Usually reducing irritating food lectins, heavy metals, insulin resistance and getting good sleep tends to help. Spicy foods can open a leaky gut and are generally good for other reasons, but hot peppers can open the gut and complicate a healing process sometimes.

I had an illegal backroom partial, through the eye socket, lobotomy about 48 years ago. I also had countless, easily 1000s, of illegal ECTs over the years. This was done by sexually sadistic parents and their friends. I am now remembering. Episodes I blocked out for decades. Is my brain regenerating? Wow that's a lot to endure. The brain regenerates supportive tissues, enzymes, glutathione, and glial cells all the time, it drains itself of toxins with the glymphatic system, and it does regenerate a few actual neurons in adulthood, and it balances a brain microbiome similar to the gut microbiome. I'm glad you survived and regenerated your brain enough to be here. I hope it gets better and better for you. I have concern sometimes about doing pot when I was younger. I know I killed a lot of brain cells doing that. (I don’t do that junk anymore for that reason) I am somewhat relieved to hear though that it’s more about own strong the connections in your brain are, rather the sheer about of them. One of my science teachers had once compared levels of intelligence to glasses of water. And how even if your glass is low you can fill it with studying and learning. We do regenerate new brain cells (neurons) after age 2 but only a small number in two small known brain areas. However, there are these nurse cells surrounding neurons called glial cells. These far outnumber brain cells 10 to 1 and they can reproduce-they are called astrocytes or "star cells". They make up 99.9% of the blood brain barrier too. That's a lot of hopeful news for one post.

I have studied in books about neurons if once it died/atrophied will not regenerate again, disability remains permanent, although new neurons may generate but not died one I studied in 2013 the reason why a neuron can't regenerate is bcoz it dnt possess centrosome hence a neuron can't divide unlike other cells.

Hey Doc! Do stem cells really work to regenerate lost brain cells in a stroke or dementia model? Currently, stem cells treatment is illegal in America and considered a quack treatment with possible complications like cancer. Some people seem to be getting some improvement with them, and some don't. But i have yet to see a full recovery with stem cells after brain injury or stroke. It all feels unreliable to me. What is your opinion on the subject?

I like Dr. Jeffrey Gross, MD for this he uses Exosomes legally in the US and the results are very interesting and nontoxic. similar to stem cells, they are allowed in the US. @TheHumanCondition2 жыл бұрын
If neurons could regenerate easily, we would all become Bean the character from Orson Scott Card's novels and the movie Ender's Game. We would have brains that keep growing inside a skull that has fused, which would lead to catastrophic intracranial pressure. That is unless we were able to stop the normal fusion of our skull sutures as we mature, which would make our heads enlarge greatly as we age. If we survived, we would have huge heads and be super smart, have better memories, and massively more processing power and empathy. One more thing-If these genes were able to turn on permitting more brain growth before birth, our heads would never fit through the birth canal and we would all be Caesarean births. Fun question!! thanks.

Super great question. If I had more time on that video I would have told you that while lots of people feel like they lost function and lost brain cells, very often their MRI is normal, and there is no other evidence of neural death. In many of these cases, its the severe weakening of all those glial cells that are also called nurse cells. There are 10x as many glial cells as there are neuron cells in the brain. These glial cells guard and protect and nourish and detox the actual nerve cells, and they CAN absolutely regenerate. So most of the time we lose few actual neurons relative to the total, and the symptoms we feel are from glial cell damage and dysfunction, and these are totally reversible in most cases. Lots of hope for you!
