I'm fascinated by his behaviour. Sir Kier has, for no sensible reason, alienated a very sizable section of Labour's voter base. There is no tactical sense in doing this, and I see his behaviour as being an extension of his very priveleged and sheltered upbringing - he does not possess Political awareness. And he doesn't possess any ability to connect with people either. I was there when he replaced Corbyn as Party leader, and grateful of the fresh new face he brought to the party as it tried to move past Corbyn's reign. The enthusiasm very quickly faded away for me as Sir Kier showed no sign of having a manifesto, no particular leadership qualities, no real charisma, and seemed to have gained the leadership role purely by default... I don't believe he has any of the qualities a Prime Minister needs. And we are seeing this played out. I give him 12 months.

ANYONE REMEMBER the 1970s union strikes? The country was almost shut down? Rats in the street because rubbish not collected because the council workers were on strike? The dead remind unburied because the grave diggers were on strike? No electricity because the power unions we’re on strike etc etc etc. And the reason we got Thatcher in the first place was Labour we’re too weak with the unions (who used to give half the union dues to Labour). i remember the 1970s strikes, been from a former coal mining town, i remember there been no coal, which in the 1970s just about every home used coal for heating & quite a huge number of older people still needed coal for cooking, & baking, & to even just boil the kettle, i also remember the miner,s going out to saw tree.s down for fuel, & near me there was hardly any tree.s left, & also some old miner,s at the time knew where to dig in gullys or on cliffs etc to get coal from small outcrop seams that are not very far from the surface, ( i still find big lumps of coal, where it outcrops out of a cliff & then breaks off in massive lumps & falls to the bottom, the only problem is carrying it up the steep path to the car) people would burn what-ever they could to keep warm, & because the power stations that produced electric were all run by coal, the electric came on for just one hour each day, old gas lighting that was still in some shops that hadn,t been used for year,s was suddenly working again.( i remember them all lit in woolworth,s which looked & smelled lovely watching them flicker & hiss, there were many shops & public buildings etc back then in the 1970s that hadn,t had any modernistion done since they opened, which in some cases was well over 100 year.s. Sadly all gone now to modernisation. But i often think of the tourists that would flock to go into such like shops etc if they were only still the same today, one perticular shop i remember had a huge mahogany counter, but you couldn,t see 90% of it for stuff all over the place. & a little old guy with a bald head & gold glasses & measuring tape around his neck would be stood at a gap asking what you were after, he looked a bit like alf garnet, then another simlar shop that had every type of raincoat or duffle coat or winter footwear etc, but it was all over the place, so much so that you couldn,t even get through the front door, the old guy that had the shop would keep chatting to you while he was just inside looking through piles of stuff for maybe a duffle coat or the other matching boot or shoe, then when you were satisfied & asked him how much, it would be a price just thought up, he would say (oh give ez a couple of bob,) they were in some cases hard time,s, but i would go back at a moments notice if only i could.
