The West Africa Squadron lost about 2,000 sailors from 1805-65, mainly through disease, the crime of slavery was committed and 2,000,000 slaves died, Britain controlled 25% of this so maybe half a million at our door, and the slave owners who were compensated massively still own half the country. In 1833, as part of the compromise that helped to secure abolition, the British government agreed a generous compensation package of £20 million to slave-owners for the loss of their 'property'. Whilst this might not have been payment directly to those enslaved, it did remove them from the choke of slavery. The £20 million was not fully paid back until 2015. So UK taxpayers have already made "reparations"!!!!!

ANY agreement regarding reparations has to include a clause that states ALL those from, or descendents of, those nations given reparations must be repatriated. There is no reason for them to be in the UK if reparations are given. No ifs, or buts.

While Britain took part in the Slave trade, she wasn't the only country involved. Britain also abolished it and paid reparations, at a great cost in lives and money. The majority agree Slavery is abhorrent, so who started up the Modern Slave trade? .....why aren't they being called out ?

When the British fought against slavery costing the country a fortune, other countries did not want to end slavery because it was profitable…. The British fought to end it all. Even at one point sending ships to blockade Brazil to stop the slave trade there until they capitulated. UK citizens before the African slave trade existed were subjected to raids and slavers taken citizens forcibly, (not bought on the coast by the selling of their own by the rulers and wealthy of their own countries). Its mad. Britons paid dearly at the time to stop the slave trade, and free slaves, reparations do not apply. UK themselves could ask for reparations from what was the Ottoman Empire. So we again would be paying to the wealth (previous slave owners and traders), of Africa… it’s madness.
