Great talk! And this means that the future can also involve the mining and cleaning up of landfill sites.

Great Talk. I know about the subject of mimicry and I also have 20 years experience in stained glass world. Now I drive a truck and get to see how all this material is moved about. My mindset is limited because I believe it takes high temperatures to create glass and ceramic but then again how did I get these teeth in my mouth? 🤔

Go Back 100 Years - people appreciated everything they had because they worked hard for what they achieved. Quality was inside work & workmanship but consumerism has eaten away at these foundation with the need to want more becoming a cancer that only spreads more - Greater Talk BTW.

'High tech' also means heavy mining industry and environmental damage - from the lithium in batteries to the Tantalum in electronic components through to Neodymium in speakers. 3 -D printing is great in theory but slow and difficult to replicate in a satisfactory manner. Glass fibers could be woven into more products other than fiberglass or insulation.

3d printing is not that slow, compared to injection molding its slow, but injection molding requires dies to be cut. Its great for rapid prototyping. Glass fibre reinforced materials are allready available for the 3d printer as are other inflill materials. There is a 3d printer which can lay fibre into the print from a roll while its printing too. Theres also a video of a superfast plastic 3d printer that uses a laser to melt the plastic and it is going unbelievably fast and resin printers that can create a whole part in seconds using 3d lasers.

This could have been said in less than 1 minute, it's so hard to listen to people dragging out the message and hoping they will actually end up saying anything interesting. like having your teeth pulled out slowly. There are so many great TED talks, this is not one of them.
