Can Daredevil by Charles Soule stand amongst the greats?

There's probably not another superhero in the last 25 years that's had such a consistently high quality of comics than Daredevil. At Marvel Comics, he's one of the flagship characters, with creators like Miller, Bendis and Zdarsky having put their spin on him. But with Charles Soule's run during the All-New, All-Different era of Marvel having just had an omnibus, where does this run stand amongst the greats?
In creating characters like Blindspot and Tenfingers, and adapting Elektra and the Kingpin to his will, here is my full review of the title!

This was actually the first Daredevil run I ever read, I picked it up in trade paperbacks, and I absolutely loved it. It's a large reason for not just me becoming a huge Daredevil fan, but a comic fan in general. So it'll always hold a special place for me, but this review was great and I understood your frustrations with the run!

Personally the perfect run for Daredevil whould be more swashbuckler in nature, I think that Daredevil and She-HULK should have books but also share a title that is Daredevil and She Hulk, Nelson, Murdock, Walter's legal office whould be perfection.

Soule is a lawyer also so you can really tell that he knows how to write the Matt Murdock Attourney at Law piece of the character

This is the first Daredevil omni that I owned after reading some of Mark Waid's run (reprints pls) and I gotta say it's a hit or miss run. I still love how some of the events that happened are organic and in line with the story. As for the art, Ron Garney and Phil Noto are the ones that stands out from the rest. But overall it's a good run and deserves all the love especially for the DD fans. Thanks for this review Woof woof!

​@@MaddoggComics I'll give you a heads up if I enjoy Soule's run but knowing me it'll take a while.😄 Touch wood feeling pretty well.🙂 Taking my medication and trying not to get stressed( that's the hardest part ha ha). Just taking it one step at a time all I can do really, want to try looking for work again. But obviously my choices are more limited. The summary says it all. This is a solid run by the standard of many other comics titles, but DD just has so many brilliant runs. Lot to live up too. Still, it's entertaining and I'm happy to own it.

Got that Daredevil yellow comic you mentioned on a where to start video. Thoroughly enjoying getting into comics. Not like there’s any specific way but do you finish an Omnibus before moving onto something else or what? This Loki omnibus I got is quite intimidating 😂

Don’t let the size hold you back! Ive learned to stop reading and jump into another story of a different character, then go back later on. Helps a lot to keep the motivation going!

@@purcznnerdz4894 Agreed for sure. I don't generally read omnis, I'm more of a TPB guy, but I do jump around a lot between different books. It's rare for me to read through an entire run without reading anything else in between. It's really all about preference. For example, in the past week I have read Preacher book 5, Spawn Origins vol 3, Criminal vol 1, Nailbiter vol 1, and maybe another couple things. Point being, read what you want when you want. If you get bored or demotivated with a certain character/series/run just switch to something else and then go back when the feeling hits. There's no wrong way to do it (there is actually, but let's not get into that lolzz).

Caught this early - got into comics this year and you really made me embrace the hobby - thanks man. Recently read Daredevil:father and really got into the character - do you think this is a good starting run?

If you know a bit about the character, it should be easy enough to jump into, but honestly I'd recommend going to the Bendis run, I'm really biased towards it, but I just think if I could only recommend one to you, that's what I'm going for haha! The Elektra plot with Kilgrave goes nowhere, which is a shame, thought Zdarsky was going to do something with it in Devil’s Reign? But that’s not his responsibility tbh

After the amazing Mark Waid run I felt that the Soule run ...is mediocre at best. I would rather recommend someone go from the Waid run, skip the Soule issues and just start where Chip Zdarksy's current (as of 2023) started
