I am a working student. I work 20 hours from home, and do 40 hours of studying for 4 out of 6 months. In the other 2 months, I continue working 20 hours, and work on my side hustle. The money I make from my working student job is not much, but it's enough to sustain myself & pay student loans. However, I also have about 3 years of experience in web development. It works perfectly.

My question: Why do some companies still block software downloads and limit it to only the ones they have on a list. I mean this week I had to reinstall Visual Studio 2019 Pro because they have old .NET applications on .NET 4.7. Using IntelliJ IDEA on another old app they have that reads flat files I just wanted to write up a quick Spring Boot - Spring Batch - Maven app to read the file, convert it to an object and validate it. Would you believe just a small thing like adding a Spring Boot plug in to build this app was blocked. I might as well be working with a chisel and stone with these people.

It depends on what you wanna learn. I learned nothing I wanted to about engine development when I worked in the game industry as an engine programmer. All my time was spent making sub-optimal fixes to tech debt because we didn't have enough time for "bleeding edge" fixes (ie changing a monolithic hierarchy to a data-driven ECS).

A common misconception is that fasting is healthier than eating meals normally. The literature seems to show that when calories are equated, there is no health advantage to fasting (time restricted eating) as opposed to eating without a time restriction and the health benefits are intrinsically tied to being in a calorie deficit. In other words, you are getting healthier by fasting because you are improving blood markers via weight loss. On the other hand, fasting does seem to have potential benefits for cognitive function. :)
