SuperOmnicron You seem to think seeking political office is the highest aspiration only the brightest and the best minds can aspire to -- and should. (I would think Dubya Bush should have knocked that idea down by now.) And that achieving the office itself is a kind of gold standard with very little accountability, but unlimited power. But have you ever noticed that one of the most important functions of social commentators, including those who use humor to mediate the message, is to remind the public when the elected official is out of line? If these commentators were in office, they would not be able to discharge that function fully or perhaps at all. Elected leaders would probably like that just fine, but the role of the leader's critic who remains outside his advisory staff is a guard against yes-man syndrome. As it is, Trump is assembling a massive crony cabinet that will need plenty of outside observation and commentary. So that's who cares: everybody who gives it any thought. We don't have bearded prophets any more who haul in to the palace and say: "King, you screwed that poor guy's wife and got him killed -- you are OUT OF LINE and we all accuse you." One point of criticism: saying that the first National Address appearing on KZbin was classless or a bad thing is out of touch if the idea was "KZbin is classless." Politicians and communication have always gone hand in hand; newspapers to radio to TV to the Internet now. I remember Olbermann, on Countdown, giving credit to President Obama for using KZbin to deliver his first 100 days plan. But I still don't see how using primarily KZbin as a means of communication would be bad, assuming the content was not the stereotypical KZbin comment where you are wondering "is this guy trolling?". Like if Clinton had done so, I also would not have had a problem. I wonder if this is just a disconnect between New Media and Older Media; like if Kennedy-era presidents had not done radio address or newspapers in favor of television. More people are likely to see it on KZbin than if it were to play on the 5 o'clock news is all. But so far, no matter what form of communication Trump has done, it has either boiled down to "Mexico is sending us their rapists"/"I am the strongman that is needed to keep you ALIVE!" or pretending that he has never said the previous lines.
