Jim was very manipulative, at times I liked him and other times I didn't. I get that he wanted to protect his daughter, but his constant meddling is what led to Brenda and Dylan breaking up in the first place.

If Brenda is ready to marry a person she has only known for two weeks it is because Brenda is not happy in her family and when we see Jim's behavior in this episode we immediately understand why she is unhappy. In season 4 Jim tells Brandon that he is happy to have a child like him because unlike Brenda Brandon would never have disappointed him, apart from the fact that he was dating a university professor, Jim was never proud of Brenda as he was proud of his son Brandon, in season 1 for him there was only Brenda who was capable of disobeying by drinking alcohol for him Brandon was the perfect child who could sleep with girls

@@brettteply1207 For me she never thought that her father was not interested in her, I think she thought that her father did not believe in her enough, what she was looking for was admiration from of his father as he admired Brandon. But for me her father really cared about her.

This scene is supposed to show the "real" Stuart; he backs down from a verbal fight when he is actually correct. Brenda is not supposed to know that he is like this. But why is his behavior wrong? Stuart can't fight with his foreman in front of the crew. He is having the foremen draw up a new budget. If Stuart fired the foreman, assuming he has that power, a new foreman would have to be hired which would have further slowed up the construction project. Stuart can be compared to DONALD TRUMP JR. and ERIC TRUMP. They were down at the construction sites while their father, DONALD TRUMP, was at the office. Would they just go and fire a foreman who ordered a steel shipment way before it was needed? The construction business budgets for misshapes like this. Why is Brenda reacting to witnessing this event in such a way that she is perceiving Stuart to be weak?

I think she is just uncomfortable because she saw him being a bit humiliated by the foreman. The "wrong" thing about Stuart's behavior is that he starts out talking to the foreman as if he were his boss, scolding him while he has actually no real power and is easily being put in his place by the older guy. It's nothing dramatic but maybe shows Brenda that she idealizes Stuart or something like that, she does not really know him nor has anything to bring to his life

all of Brenda's boyfriends must all be inferior to Dylan because it was Dylan and Brandon who were the real male stars of Beverly Hills, and it was the same for Kelly, in the later seasons Matt who was Kelly's boyfriend should also be inferior to Dylan, the writers absolutely wanted Rick, Stuart, John Sears and Matt to be inferior to Dylan. Even if Kelly had dated Steve, she would not get back together with him after dating Dylan, for Kelly, Steve could date Valerie, but Dylan should not date Valerie, Kelly had made fun of Kelly's boyfriend. Brenda called Rick and said he was boring. For example Jake the boy who dated Kelly couldn't be inferior to Dylan because he had to be the star of Merlose Place.

@@suddhadasi " The "wrong" thing about Stuart's behavior is that he starts out talking to the foreman as if he were his boss, scolding him while he has actually no real power and is easily being put in his place by the older guy." -- My interpretation of Stuart in this scene is that he is standing up for himself in front of a more experienced person in his father's company. Stuart is refusing to take the blame for something that was not his fault. Stuart was just upset. The foreman calling Stuart a "little piss-ant" was uncalled for. The foreman knows he screwed up and is angry that Stuart is calling him out on that. Brenda seems to think here as she is witnessing this argument that Stuart is weak. He is not weak and he proves that by ordering the foreman to draw up another budget which proves he did have the authority to give orders to the foreman. Stuart was not just an "errand boy" as this foreman claimed. Stuart showed he was a strong person in this scene. It is a shame that Brenda could not see that. I imagine DONALD TRUMP JR. and ERIC TRUMP had conversations with angry foremen on particular construction projects over the years. I wonder if they always remembered to be professional like Stuart did here.
