1:10 - 1:13 Agree! And yet people wonder why Jim was so harsh to her. Because she did crazy shite like this when she wasn't even an adult, but in high school, any dad would be worried and act this way too - FACT. Yes, here she is 18, but still not an adult in the eyes of the law, and agreeing to marry Stuart after only 2 - 3 weeks of knowing him was absolutely idiotic too, so no wonder Jim interfered in her affairs once again! Brandon NEVER did things like this, he was always a more responsible twin, so their parents trusted Brandon more. And Brenda fans who always bring up the time when Brandon drove his car drunk - that was literally one time, and in the episode which was designed to show that Brandon broke once, and exactly because he was always such a goodie - goodie, so he had to let himself be crazy and young just once. Yes, the whole situation could have had deadly consequences, and they showed why this was bad, but it still doesn't change the fact that this was an exception with Brandon, while Brenda did crazy and irresponsible things like this all the time! that's the point!

brandon also had a pretty serious gambling problem, almost ruined his dad's relationship with chick schneider by yelling at him at the get together at home about carla, tried to stop the development of the new mall which would create tons of new jobs and tax revenue for the community, didn't defend his sister strongly enough when kelly and dylan betrayed her or when brenda was accused of sleeping with roy randolff. don't get me wrong, i like brandon too, but lets not pretend that his drunk driving was his one and ONLY vice. lets also remember that, if he didn't get tough with those guys in the parking lot and just let them go, probably kelly would not have been shot. and another thing i remember, he could have very easily cost andrea a spot at west beverly when he sent in her article for that contest. just by the grace of god, that they were able to fake that she actually does live with her grandmother. otherwise, she would have been kicked out of west beverly. so lets not cherry pick brandon's past.

let's not forget what dylan tells brandon in the peach pit after his drunk driving incident. "everybody has a dark side, you [brandon] just hide it better than most." so he definitely has dark qualities, just easier to overlook them because he is so clean cut and a nice guy.

Dylan also knew about the underground clubs that Emily Valentine frequented. Dylan got around. Stuart was probably rebelling by selling. Getting engaged and running away were also ways to rebel. Stuart probably had daddy issues. Gives the character depth that should have been explored. They also did my girl Brenda dirty. She should have been given a proper wedding or send-off that didn't involve her pinning over Dylan. The group also didn't question Andrea because she got pregnant, and that's what some people do in that situation. In Brenda's case, she was looking for someone as an escape for the group turning on her and her parents' control.
