Andrew Easton makes some great heavy duty machines. I agree with you about “my happy place”, running a saw, splitting by hand, using the splitter or stacking. We call it “throttle therapy” because it also applies when me and my family hit the trails on our off road equipment too

I like that! It really is therapeutic.

Hi Glenn!!😀😀 You need to put a little red Lock Tight on those bolts so they don't come loose. I was one of the people who pushed Andrew Easton to make the taller push plate for it. Because everyone that has one was having trouble with the small push plate. Instead of fighting with them big rounds and maybe hurting your back. I would take that 500i and quarter them. Take care buddy!! Logger Al

Hi, Al. I put loctite on them last time they came out and it held for a couple of years. And good idea on quartering the rounds.

The Ultra is a Nice Splitter if your doing Production, if Your working on your own the Axis is the way to go, it has a Log Lift, It can handle Big Rounds of wood, The Axis has better Splitting Power, I Watched Sawing with Sandy who had an ultra and he Traded it for the Axis,

I always enjoy your videos, including this one great video just a thought maybe consider noodling the rounds prior to splitting splitting. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I appreciate that! Yea. I normally cut them down. This was partially experimental. To test my splitters capacity.

I have an eastonmade ultra and those bolts have broken on me 7 or 8 times now. I'm only splitting pine too, nothing crazy. I have emailed eastonmade about this issue and I think they think I'm crazy. The pusher plate holes on mine are so stripped and messed up now and it's super annoying 👎👎. It's worth noting that I have the larger pusher plate, I always use the appropriate grade bolts when I replace them, and I even tried loctite and various other solutions

You're not crazy. This isn't the first time I've replaced them either, but so far it works fine when I replace them. When I put loctite on it last time, it held for a couple of years.

Leave your grapple open and park it close to the splitter makes a great table, do it all the time

I totally agree about getting out and cutting, splitting, and even stacking firewood. It truly is my happy place as well, brings a sense of accomplishment and clears my mind. The Ultra is a great splitter and over engineered to last years of splitting. The rounds are big but the Ultra can handle them with ease. I seen Chris from In The Wood Yard put some massive rounds through his 4 way and need to wrap a chain to pull them back off after they got stuck. 👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks for your comment. I've used the chain method at times, too, and it's handy.

Love this vid, as it's exactly how I load my Eastonmade 22/28. I have a similar Everything Attachment brand Grapple, and i have now actually warped it due to picking up rounds that size- on one side of grapple. Heart breaking to say the least. Ive had the 22/28 1 year now- selling it to get the Vertical splitter 17CS-C wolfridge. Love this video ! kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIKphYyCiJ2dl9E

8:23 Not the safest spot for the gas can when half a round can fall off and hit it… 😮 How old is that eagle can anyway? It’s in great shape.

You're probably right. It looks to be atleast 30-40 years old, but I don't know for sure. I prefer using a small can on this splitter so I don't have to hold a 5 gallon up to fill it.
