Only stihl ms 261 non-mtronoc is supported in my country. Is it possible to order the parts for stihl ms 261 cm if I take it to Bulgaria and it breaks down?

I have stihl ms 261 non-mtronic WhenI try to put on the chain and the side cover, It is a bit difficult for me to turn the nuts. Does it mean that the threads in the nuts of the side cover are worn out or the threads on the bar stud is worn out? What can I do if either of those is worn out. Can I use it in this way because I can turn it with a spanner but can’t turn it by hand?

Hey Glenn, glad to hear your buddy randy is ok! I, myself always wear chaps gloves boots and eyewear when bucking/cutting firewood or felling. They’re definitely must have items in the field. I also always carry a good first aid kit. I had an accident once where i split open my left thumb pretty good using my Corona pruning hand saw limbing some small branches at my property up in the mountains. there’s no cell service up there and the nearest hospital is over 2 hours away, so taking proper precautions is an absolute must. Thank god I had the first aid kit. Changing the topic, wouldn’t the ms170 you got be a better choice in regards about overall fatigue than the 261 for small wood?

Careful of barbs or curled edges going back and forth. Best to go in one direction.

I've watched all three of your 261 vs videos and I still believe the Stihl to be the better all around saw. Great video

Kids changed from 261 to 550 once they heard you were running an xcut chain. Once its is sharpened it loses a bit of cutting performance. 550 is a beast

Had to fight with my dealer to get them to put an 18" on the new ms261cm I bought. I prefer the 325 in 063 gauge instead of 050 gauge

They are light but a pound is a lot in comparison I don't care if they are the same class, a closer weight comparison is the 362. Difference being half a pound, with a huge advantage in bars choice. This option comes at a big $$ increase though. Also are you running an xcut chain on the husky, you failed to mention the shorter bar. Bar length is huge, I wanted one of these for liming until I realized such short bars would eliminate any weight advantage The 550 is a beast at its price point, nothing appears to touch it.

Hydraulic control valve rods bent, seal inside tore, 1100 hours. On the unit. Our bobcats seem to be more heavy duty and a lot quieter in the cab. For $8-$10k more I think the quality of the bobcat is justified for the price.

Has anyone seen a video from anyone who has bought this tool. All the videos I’ve seen are from people who have been sent this tool. Would like to see and hear from someone who paid for it and how it has worked for them. Not saying his evaluation isn’t accurate and he did what the company asked him to try it out and say how it worked for him. Just wondering?

Your first 4 picks left me unimpressed but I heartily applaud the utica fence menders which I used for 20 years for a million things from HH maintenance to repairing my 1971 Fiat 850 accelerator cable. Lost them after leaving them in the engine compartment one day but now I'm gonna buy me another! What a great tool.(Still use my SK 3/8" ratchet too!) Thanks.

I don’t do firewood or anything like that, but I need a pro saw to tackle downed trees around my farm and the farm and ranch saws just don’t perform for me. I bought a 550xp MK2 a couple years ago and it’s been awesome. Seen some hard use but it’s help up very well with zero issues.

I just bought the Kioti CS2220 with a backhoe. I love my tractor. It is by far one of your best value for dollar purchases. Updated and plenty of power. I'm very pleased and would recommend it to anybody in the market for a tractor.

This and your previous 2 tests are definitely consistent with the hp & tq these saws actually make. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Both are rated at 4.0HP, but the Husky is underrated. A well known porter in MI has a dyno he tests his builds, and he did a 50cc saw comparo, all stock. 2 of the saws were a 261c and 550XP Mark 2. The dyno graphs for these two start at 8:36. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4GlY2iYrZitl9U

Just bought a Kioti CK2620. Loader, backhoe. I couldn't be happier. Unbelievable power for a 25 horsepower. Build stout as hell compared to the competition. I did so much research and visited so many dealerships. Massey, Deere, Kubota, New Holland. Lifting capacity was much more. The build of the tractor is what really sold me. The axles, the thickness of steel, the grease fittings in proper location. The valve stem protectors. I could go on and on.

How old is your MS261 and do you have the original spec sheet to check? There was a change (~2yr ago in UK) and the engine power was increased from 2.8kW to 3.0kW without a change in model designation. I'm wondering if this may be relevant.

Echo saws are without a doubt the best bang for the buck. There is many saw guys that have put them all to the test and echo comes out on top. Echo is made in Japan, every one knows that the best stuff is Japanese. Stihl is German like a Mercedes, husqvarna is Swedish like a Volvo, and echo is Japanese the Lexus of the group.

I run 2 saws. Stihl MS 251C for my small saw and a Stihl MS 362 C-M. The small saw is around 40cc and 59cc for the big one. 18" bar on the small saw. Big saw came with a 25" bar but I rarely use this bar but it's nice to have. I mostly run a 20" on the 362. Also running yellow link chains and packing the 2 in 1 chain files.
