I am 51 but when i was 23 i weighed 180 pounds that was back in the 90 when whey protein came out and people where saying you need to eat 180g of protein. I was lean beach body, I was taking in around 100g per day, when i boosted my intake to 180g i gained about 2 inches in the waist and i got fat. So protein is no different than fat or carbs if you eat too much calories you will gain fat.

It is VERY different and yes you will still gain fat
@ricksikora72706 ай бұрын
Agreed, too much of any macro, even protein you will gain fat.

This would have been clearer if somewhere you added that it's ultimately a question of calorie intake vs TDEE.

True, if I work out less and still maintain the same protein intake as I would do when working out. I usually gain weight and get blowed.
@BassieAdriaan1 Жыл бұрын
Seems obvious if you're burning less calories?..
@jeangove01 Жыл бұрын
"get blowed" sounds as if you're observing something else - regardless of protein intake, it's overall calorie intake which determines whether you lose or gain OVER WEEKS, not observationally over days.
@DILFDylF9 ай бұрын
*get blown, not blowed, also congrats!
@GordonLF9 ай бұрын
But I´m sure you want to get blowed.

How come protein become fat when its net negative energy?
@pamelaj765 ай бұрын
This very unclear. Does protein convert to fat if your calories are not in excess, if you're at maintenance?

Protein is overrated. Used to do 1g per pound but now am doing like 0.5 to 0.6 whether am cutting or bulking and still seeing good result.
@davorzdralo80008 ай бұрын
The amount of protein is overrated, yes. What people miss is that 1g/lbs is if you are Ronnie Coleman, not skinny fat dude from local gym.
@MSEDable7 ай бұрын
Even during a cut you didn't see any benefits to increase a bit your protein intake? And by curiosity, how much carbs and fat do you eat along with a relatively "low" protein diet?
@jj-oo6oi7 ай бұрын
@@MSEDable Yes i used to do 1g of protein whether am cutting or bulking. For the past 4 years i dropped it to 0.5 and i saw even greater strength gains since i can get more carbs. I went from 213 pounds to 158 pounds and gained even more strength.

@@jj-oo6oithat's interesting, could it be possible that you give a bit more details on what a typical day of eating looks like for you?
@jj-oo6oi7 ай бұрын
@@MSEDable It changes everyday. On off days i consume around 2000 calories and workout day is around 2300 calories. I eat anything as long as i stay within my caloric budget. I eat bread, burgers, pizza, fruit and etc.

If you only eat protein, then yes you will get leaner and you will lose body fat. The key is only eat protein.
@Jake-mc8te10 ай бұрын
So true, low carb is so effective if you just do lean protein hard to more than 1,000 cals. High fat keto was literally useless for me
@GordonLF9 ай бұрын
How can you eat only protein without not ingesting carbs or fat at the same time?
@SensualBrunette9 ай бұрын
@@GordonLF I do eat some fats too.
@theconqueror11119 ай бұрын
If you are eating 4000 calories a day, it doesn't matter who you are (unless you are running marathons daily), you will get very fat, even if you are on a 100% protein diet. A diet very high in carbs and very low in calories is easy to do during a cut by using breads made almost entirely with fiber.
@SensualBrunette9 ай бұрын
@@theconqueror1111 I’m pretty much on a 100% protein diet and I am actually getting leaner however my weight is going up but I do work out also.
