Welcome to another Pokemon challenge video! Pokemon Platinum with only Fighting types seemed like a really fun and challenging idea with very unique aspects, so here's my attempt. Platinum is definitely one of my Favorite Pokemon games, so let's do this!
We've done some hard Pokemon challenges in the past, but usually they were a solo Pokemon challenge run. What if we still did a really difficult challenge... but with a full team using hardcore nuzlocke rules, and with only one type? Today we find out: can I beat a Pokemon Platinum Hardcore Nuzlocke with only Fighting types?

Monotype Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
(1) If a Pokémon faints, it must be permanently boxed or released.
(2) Only the first type-specific Pokémon encountered in each Route/Area can be caught.
(3) No Legendaries/Mythicals, duplicates, or same-evolution-line Pokémon can be caught or used. If a duplicate is encountered, the next unique type-specific Pokémon encounter can be caught.
(4) Additional Pokémon may be caught for the purpose of HM use, but these may not be used in battle at any time during the run.
(5) No Items can be used in battle (Held Items are allowed).
(6) Party Pokémon levels are limited to the highest level Pokémon of the next Gym Leader or Elite 4 Member. So long as your Pokémon are at or below the level cap when the Gym Leader/Elite 4 Member battle starts, they can level up mid-battle.
(7) "Set" Battle Mode must be used at all times.
(8) No connecting with other games for the purposes of trading/importing Pokémon, Items, etc.

Since female Ralts can't evolve into Gallade, I think it would have been fine not to count them as legit encounters. Just in case a situation like that comes up in another challenge :D

The weirdest thing is I had a massiveee shiny drought while ACTUALLY streaming shiny hunting at like 1/500 odds for like 6 months. Then we've found a shiny Teddiursa in Emerald Kaizo & this Buizel while just doing challenges, both at 1/8192! 😂

It is fairly common to randomly get shiny's if you do EV grinding, especially pre Gen 5, when you are a bit limited in how fast you can get them, and have to burn through a ton of battles for specific EV's.

Wouldn’t the first “viable” Ralts for Gallade be the first male Ralts you found? Not just the first Ralts still?

Technically yes but since he found a female Ralts first, according to Nuzlocke rules, most Pokémon challenge runners often state the Duplicate Species Clause being in effect. That means whenever you encounter a Pokémon on any given route, whether you succeed or fail, you can't encounter the same Pokémon, or any member of its evolutionary line, as the initial encounter on another route. The same is true for Oddish, Snorunt and Wurmple and all of them have branched evolutions.

Garchomp saw the kill on medicham with all of its attaching moves, these means the ai will choose at random any of these moves, meaning that you had 25% chance she chose dragon rush and a 25% chance she would miss it aswell

You should show your previous attempts before your successful one, and also keep an attempt counter. It's good at illustrating difficulty and it's fun to not know whether or not youll succeed in any given battle

@@Savariable The rule says that in nuzlocke runs, you only can get your first viable encounter, and if you got ralts, that's your first encounter, and you can't get Kirlia on the same route, although you can get it on different routes if that's your first encounter. The viable part of this rule is extremely arbitrary, and can be interpreted differently by different people, but hey, that's how he interprets it. My interpretation for this rule is that female ralts aren't considered viable, since they can't evolve into a fighting type, but others would say catching ralts is illegal since it's technically only psychic, and you can only catch fighting types, so you would have to catch a gallade in the wild to use them, which is impossible. He chose a compromise between these two interpretation.

From what i've picked up watching poketubers the reason garchomp went for dragon rush is that the AI will always go for a KO if one of it's moves can do so. In this case both of it's moves must have been able to take infernape out so the AI apparently does not take into account accuracy and picked at random.

I’ve seen rules restricting to one copy of the game. Making trade evos technically illegal. Also if he is using an emulator without editing the evolution requirements it’s actually impossible to do trade evolutions to my knowledge.

To be fair, a lot of nuzlocke rules are self imposed. Lots of people chance the rules to add difficulty. Its nothing new

@@creepersans9257 there are only 3 iron clad, universal rules for a playthrough to be a nuzlocke. 1) can only catch first pokemon in each area only 2) if a pikemon faints, its dead and can't be used 3) pokemon must be given a nickname. Any other rules other than those three are added at the players discretion, either to make things harder or more interesting. (A common clause is the species clause which means if you already have a certain pokemon, you can try again for something new)

Roark used Pursuit since it would go first and the AI knew it wouldn't survive a hit. That's not fact, it's my thoughts. I also believe Cyrus swapped to Gyarados since it has Earthquake (it might have Fire Blast?) And it would be super effective against Lucario.

14:40. Personally think shiny clause should supercede restriction (unless it's like PLA where shinies are far more common) because most of your runs limits you to 8-11 encounters. That and Trade evolution should be allowed (same as shiny clause and it's fun to watch) Still enjoy the content and think you're doing awesome Silph!
