Another option is to import a ditto into your game, and take any over-leveled trades to the Daycare. Eggs are produced and hatch really quickly in Sword/Shield, and you can access the Daycare as soon as you reach the Wild Area.

TBH the DLC actually helps the game feel more complete. I wouldn’t have been upset if they waited longer to complete the game in the beginning rather than DLC. Everything feeling like the wild area in the DLC’s make the game feel like what we actually wanted from the main story
