If you're having trouble with a boss, you can always go to an easier area and kill Malenia, Blade of Miquella until you're powerful enough to kill the boss, which is also Malenia, Blade of Miquella.

The "doesn't die to ripostes isn't a bug". Malenia originally had a bug where if you riposted her in her first phase and killed her, her second phase would instantly die as well. To fix it, they made riposting her to death impossible.

From what I’ve heard, the reason you get 4 phase malenia fights is because unlike every other phased boss, the randomiser devs couldn’t separate her phase 1 from her phase 2. Normally in the rando, any boss which changes enemy (namely the ones which change names between phases) are considered different bosses and can be randomised into different bosses (so for example, beast clergyman could become horrah loux and Maliketh could become morgott in one fight). However, as Malenia, blade of Miquella and Malenia, Goddess of Rot can’t be separated by the rando devs, they both come as a package deal to replace one phase of a two phase boss (or an entire 1 phase boss) in the rando. This means that whenever you run into a 2 phase boss in this run, phase 1 becomes Malenia and phase 2 becomes Malenia. On the flip side of things, this does mean actual Malenia in randomisers only becomes 1 phase of a 2 phase boss or a single 1 phase boss

This is awesome, great work! If you're looking for more "but everything is..." challenges, I'd recommend some form of the Black Knife Assassins. Particularly the ones in Ordina, so that every enemy (wildlife included) becomes invisible. I'm personally interested in how it would change boss fights, because finding them would then become the difficult part unless you manage to get a rainbow stone arrow or something else on them at the start.

Little trick I found out. If you finish her off with a reposte she'll still do the animation where she stands up. If you let her FINISH the animation she'll enter her second phases below half health. Most people panic hit her when she stands back up so they don't learn this

This challenge really shows how a boss arena impacts a fight. Obviously terrain and space are important, but even details like terrain elevation can make a difference on a fight. Some arenas are really awesome for the boss they were intented to host, because those fights where created with those things in mind, and become really annoying when fighting a boss that has different movesets

The hardest boss would be the Regal Ancestor Spirit, because the arena is filled with animals, so not only would you not know which of the 400 malenias is the boss, but there would be 400 malenias.
