Hey Bushy I have a horrible idea for a run - ashes of war attacks only but with your FP bar drained completely at all times. The ashes of war that I'm thinking of are sacred blade. There is a long wind up for the slash attack and it doesn't do the holy beam but the attack will still do damage. Another horrible idea would be thunderbolt - when you raise your weapon to do the attack it actually has a melee hit box and you can hurt enemies if you're basically touching them.

honestly, it has always baffled me that spell tools and bare hands are just never given actual attacks, outside of specific exceptions like the tin banishment catalyst and the vanquisher's seal. like, i understand them not being _good_ weapons, but their ar is genuinely so pitiful that it takes incredible effort to beat the _goddamn animals not far from the stranded graveyard_ to death. hell, the fists at least get the unarmed moveset ( with barely any poise damage ), meanwhile staves are stuck with this incredibly wimpy smack that is somehow slower than _swinging a goddamn mace._ it's not even like it's a "nerdy mage can't swing a sword" thing, the signature int weapon across all these games is the _moonlight greatsword!_ you're telling me the protagonists of these games can handle all these actual weapons with proper finesse and skill, but can't figure out how to effectively club someone with a fancy stick? i mean, apparently the bearer of the curse can. i haven't actually seen the staff moveset in that game, but they did bother giving the staves and pyromancy flames actual ars in it. no idea why that didn't stick really the thing that gets me about it is that they have to go _out of their way_ to make these things so bad. they made the animations, assigned 'em to a button, decided on the exact ar and scaling values for each tool, and all for the sake of something that's a mild curiosity for anyone who hasn't lost their sanity waiting for the dlc. they don't even do anything _fun_ with it in elden ring! all the crystal armaments do magic damage scaling with int _except for two used for the main int mechanic!_ the frenzied flame seal is apparently enough of a frenzied flame punch to cause frenzy build-up, but not deal any fire damage ... yet despite these two things, the erdtree seal _specifically_ and none of the other holy-themed seals get a pittance of holy damage? oh, and the big stick the demihuman queens love to bonk you with and toss at you? yeah that bonks as well as the crystal staff but as a non-somber weapon, very fun i just don't get it

Id presume you would stand a chance against rykard via spinning weapon if you were rocking the swaddling cloth... but im not sure if you can put spinning weapon onto anything with bleed or rot to make good use of it and then the mana supply becomes an issue

You can give spinning weapon frost tho, Idk about staffs but Ive been using it with the godskin peeler with cold affinity.
