Having moxie rather than intimidate was absolutely MASSIVE for you this run. Had you gotten intimidate (normally a great ability, but far less so in a solo run) youd have had a significantly harder time.

yeah even in normal gameplay moxie is a really op ability, one of the best in the game. for solo runs it is way better, making it possibly the best ability you could have.

It's even more than you think. Having Intimidate activate at the start of each battle will slow down grinding SO much. Seriously. I've been playing through this same game with only not-very-effective moves. Having an extra line of text per battle slows down level grinding so much.

I'm just picturing Sandile bringing out a beach chair with umbrella for MDB, and handing him a drink with a tiny paper umbrella and straw as he sits down while going "You just relax, I'll take care of things today." And then going off screen and sounds of Sandile just absolutely annihilating the game drift over while MDB gets to enjoy himself.

If you want to try Sandile in Gen 1, maybe take a look at the Unova Red ROM, it replaces the usual Gen 1 pokemon with Gen 5 pokemon, whether it works with the Universal Pokemon Randomizer I'm not sure though.

I believe there is also a rom hack that places all Pokémon up to x/y into gen 1. It just makes all dark/steel/fairy into normal type.

I like to believe that the only reason the Normal Gym victory went to smoothly is because someone took control of Lenora's AI. As the rule of pokemon states, "Confusion will always trigger for a real person, never the AI."

This video is a prime example of how damn good Moxie is. That's genuinely why I believe you had a much easier time in this run, say for a few rough spots. Like, there was rarely any rough spots in this run because of Moxie. If you had Intimidate, then you would have a rough time in the run.

You know what would be really fun to see you attempt? The Alder fight. You'd have to go through the E4 again, but their levels would be higher (so better challenge) and the Alder fight itself is pretty challenging. Just something to think about maybe?

As an avid scraggy and sandile enjoyer, Scraggy is half as fast as sandile than Sandile. But it is twice as bulky as Sandile, so it might actually survive a hit.

Bite has 60 Base Power (90 with STAB), Crunch has 80 (120), but yeah, flinching can be very important!

I was gonna ask why MDB kept Bite instead of Crunch, because as good as the flinch is, Crunch is consistently stronger by 20 base power. ...But then I saw the steamroll that is Moxie Sandile. Fair enough. You deserve a good sweep. Take the crowns, MDB and StretSharx! 👑👑

Bite and crunch don't have a large bp difference, until you factor in the stab bonus 60-90 and 80-120 a 30 bp difference after stab, i'd call that a large difference makes it more powerful than return too

There is a post game boss to Black and White if you ever get a run like this again. You Can challenge the Elite Four again and they will be much much harder, and then I think you can challenge Alder to actually become the champion.

Which reminds me. I did a Porygon run in Pokemon Black months ago. And even though I failed to make it through the post-game I actually took Porygon though the main story and beat the game but even though I'll call that a successful run I think I might revisit the run again in the future with better EV training so I can try to retry the post-game along with a few runs I already beat such as White 2 with only a Metagross and Shield with only one Diglett since I didn't EV train much in any of those runs.

As a tip, when needing to grind in gen 5, it is ALWAYS worth it to search for shaking grass for Audino. Even the amount of time it will take to get a shaking patch, as well as the other Pokemon that can spawn, are worth slogging through in order to the get the exp yields from Audino.

Yes, you can mod Gen 1 to back-port future Pokemon. I've seen runs with Heracross, various legendaries, Garchomp, etc.

For any future, black and white runs try looking for the Evualite. It’s a held item that boost defense, and special defense of Pokémon, who can still evolve.

Moxie is an incredible ability. If you have a strong move like Earthquake or the elemental Fang moves, even the weakest of Pokémon can be strong. If you think that's a crazy ability, Pure Power and Huge Power are crazier abilities than Moxie. Pure Power/Huge Power doubles your base Attack. So Pokemon with low Attack stats and become powerhouses. The Meditite line and Marill line are great examples. So it feels like a Meditite solo run could be out since it's such an incredible ability.

If only you were playing in winter you could've got substitute in Twist Mountain to replace swagger for Cofagrigus' toxic at the start of Ghetsis, and also had a free hit thanks to it for Hydreigon- it wouldve been possible to beat this even quicker!

Late, but for future reference, the TM for Rock Tomb is in the Desert Resort on the way to Nimbasa City. It can hit Elesa's Emolgas hard and lower their speed, so if your Pokemon can learn it it's a great grab.

Just saying, it’s no surprise this run was so simple since Sandile is so strong. Decent stats focused where they should be, good typing with a great movepool (especially for STAB), and no matter which ability you get you’ll get some use out of it with Moxie definitely being amazing for sweeps, Anger Point having its situational massacres, and Intimidate allowing you to weaken your enemy and maybe get some setup going for a sweep.

Hey MDB, about your Sandile question around 11:41 about it being in gen 1. There is a rom hack called Pokemon Brown. Where it puts pretty much every mon up until gen 7 and gives them Gen 1 stats and mechanics with their abilities. It's actually hilarious, the other rom you could try is Red 721 but that's more of a "challenge" rom where every trainer has competitive movesets etc.

Spur of the moment idea, Pokemon White with N's Teams, you have to use the same pokemon as N for each N fight or switch Pokemon after each N fight to what his team was

That's why I would say Krookodile is my favorite ground type in the series, except maybe for Mamoswine. It's fast enough, is strong, with oddly good coverage just with STABs + Return and can either be a good teamplayer with intimidate or a reliable sweeper with moxie.
