I truly think these are my favorite types of videos in this world. There is of course substance to challenge videos with general commentary, but waxing poetic over a game that is held together by the desperation of coders is truly something else. I idly listen to videos more than I actually watch them and its always a treat when I get beautiful things like this in my recommended.

To hell with these foul creatures with bodily advantages that they took for granted, abilities to experience joy in ways they never even took even a sliver of a moment to appreciate! ‘Why should we help them?’ Thought the Grox, what have they EVER done for us? And so they blockaded the centre of the galaxy, ensuring no creature that they viewed unworthy and undeserving of their biological advantages could ever hope to reach it, they modified their own bodies with cybernetics to give themselves the closest thing they could ever hope to have to senses and movement, but still never came remotely close to what the blessings of Mother Nature could provide, blessings they had been deemed unworthy of, they roamed the Galaxy in five star empire ships and tormented other species, exterminating tribal villages with interplanetary space lasers. They had access to the most advanced technology in the known universe, and while it could never alleviate them of their sensual misery it could be used to make every other creature in this meaningless ocean as miserable as they were! Let them cry, let them cower in fear, let them all suffer the same horrific histories as they did. That is the story told here. That is what Spuddy created here, that, is the story of the Grox. . ._*

So fishing in the tribal stage is... odd. There are designated fishing spots. There's no visual indicator they exist in the actual overworld, you can only see them as an icon in the minimap. They look kind like a very simplified fish. And more fishing spots do spawn as the game progresses. For me the first ones that spawn are usually pretty far away, and I don't notice ones near my tribe until I've completed like two or three of the other tribes.

That seems like such an odd choice. I know I'm not terribly observant, so it could just be on me for not seeing the icons, but it feels like the sort of thing that could be explained better. Granted, it came from the era of games that had manuals. Similarly, I can't recall if it came with one, but it and animal taming in that stage just feel like strangely well thought out features to then not bring up more clearly.

You actually can see the fishing spots in the overworld, but they are hard to make out. They look like a bunch of fish jumping out of the water where they are located.

The strat is to make sure your nest migrates to one near a body of water, and then you complete the creature stage. This gives you a much better chance of having a spawn next to a fishing spot, which you can see by the fish jumping in the water.

The space stage is honestly a lot thrown at the player all at once. For as many times as I've played the game, it was only this year that I finally finished the stage. And even still, I've no intention of doing so glitch free.

Thank you! I wouldn't ever really recommend it, but most of my thoughts/feelings on any given point within the videos I make are based on memory. If I remember a moment clearly after the full playthrough, it's usually a good sign that I have more to expand upon. I will sometimes write digital notes between play sessions, and fairly rarely, I'll have an idea of themes/topics I'd like to cover before starting the run. More often than not, those notes get scrapped, but...

13:54 I think I know why you are having issues with befriending tribes. You see, the trick is to NOT mash the buttons as soon as you can. There is a passive approval tick that happens the longer you do not play the next instrument. Just don’t obey the prompt until a second and a half passes and you can consistently make all the tribes happy. I haven’t played spore for a long time, but even now I still remember my struggle with the tribe stage…
