After analyzing what you had I would say the best way to save money would have to gotten a conch early game so you can destroy the vortex pillar much earlier to make vortex armor. also you could have gotten a gravity potion to make it easier on yourself while fighting him in certain circumstances. Lastly (which I'm not sure if you did) you could have reforged your gun to Agile which would increase the speed of the coin gun and increase the crit chance. These are the improvements that could have been done to your play through to improve your end game performance.
