Lounge is the unofficial ranking system for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe! When you wish to compete, you will play against other players of similar match-making rating (MMR). Depending on your MMR, you will place in one of the numerous ranks in Lounge:
Iron 1: 0-999 MMR
Iron 2: 1000-1999 MMR (Placement: 1500)
Bronze 1: 2000-2999 MMR (Placement: 2500)
Bronze 2: 3000-3999 MMR (Placement: 3500)
Silver 1: 4000-4999 MMR (Placement: 4500)
Silver 2: 5000-5999 MMR
Gold 1: 6000-6999 MMR
Gold 2: 7000-7999 MMR
Platinum 1: 8000-8999 MMR
Platinum 2: 9000-9999 MMR
Sapphire 1: 10000-10999 MMR
Sapphire 2: 11000-11999 MMR
Ruby 1: 12000-12999 MMR
Ruby 2: 13000-13999 MMR
Diamond 1: 14000-14999 MMR
Diamond 2: 15000-15999 MMR
Master: 16000-16999 MMR
Grandmaster: 17000+ MMR
Depending on your rank, you will only be eligible to compete in some of the following tiers:
Tier G: Iron 1 + Iron 2 + Placement
Tier FG: Iron 2 + Bronze 1
Tier F: Bronze 1 + Bronze 2
Tier EF: Bronze 2 + Silver 1
Tier E: Silver 1 + Silver 2
Tier DE: Silver 2 + Gold 1
Tier D: Gold 1 + Gold 2
Tier CD: Gold 2 + Platinum 1
Tier C: Platinum 1 + Platinum 2
Tier BC: Platinum 2 + Sapphire 1
Tier B: Sapphire 1 + Sapphire 2
Tier AB: Sapphire 2 + Ruby 1
Tier A: Ruby 1+
Tier S: Ruby 2+
Tier X: Diamond 1+
If you're just getting started, you will be placed in either Iron or Bronze. You'll typically see the seasoned veterans in Sapphire or above.

2v2v2v2v2v2 is voted almost every time in lounge, i couldnt tell ya why. i would rather do solo every time.

@@santaisreal I answer late but it's bc of two lain reasons : 1) Because it's overall, the best way to win MMR, no matter what team you're on (seed 1 - 6), in number of MMR gain AND percentage (50%, sometimes more if seed 6) (and it's correlated to my 2nd point). Compared to 3s or 4s, especially, where you gain less MMR 2) You're covered. If you play bad/have no luck in ONE lounge, your mate can potentially cover it for you by scoring more. Having a mate is a strong point, and can allow avoiding some situations that would happen in FFA, for example (which needs a bit more luck tbf). And when you play 2v2, you actually play most of the time as if you were playing solo. 3v3 and 4v4 require a lot of team play, so basically you need a call. However, generally, you don't really want to call in Japanese (as most of the players in lounge are Japanese) for a mogi (bc you don't know how to call, or simply you can't/don't want to). I don't know if that makes any sense lmao, not my first language
