Yea same I got the game and first tried every lvl up to robot cuz it’s a lot more rng and the difficulty kinda spikes there then like second or third try beat that as well and I’ve gotten close to witch like last floor last enemy before boss kinda thing but yea the first few are not to hard but still fun but the real challenge comes from the dif episodes and witch along with I’d assume jester (never gotten it but I looked it up and looks hard)

Beating a rogue-like first try is crazy. If you like pokemon there's one called PokeRogue which is really fun

Dicey Dungeons is different from most roguelikes, in that it's very level-based. While other roguelikes are like "you've beat a run, you've beat the game, anything else is extra", so a run should be very difficult to beat, and something that you slowly build towards, Dicey Dungeons expects you to beat your first run quite early, as it's the "first level", and it gets progressively harder from there. So this video is more equivalent to "Can I Beat Super Mario Bros. 1-1 On My Very First Try?" lol Still very much failable, but not exactly that difficult.

@@DeathByAnvil It's not about "technically correct", it's about whether or not it's deceptive. Like by that logic you could put "can I beat Minecraft on Hardcore on my first try" and then proceed to have 8 minutes of a black screen That said, I don't see why people are hating on this vid. It's not like he did it on purpose, in most roguelikes beating a run means beating the game. It's not his fault Dicey Dungeons changes the formula, the levels just look like extra characters to someone new to the game.

As someone who did beat the final boss , I can say for certain beating every challenge on your first try is impossible especially when you're playing as the Witch who is by far the hardest character in the game

Yea really fun game just got it but having troubles with witch mainly a combo of consistently getting unlucky plus it’s just hard lol haven’t even seen the joker boss and have done a few episodes

He beat the tutorial lvl of it but sure he beat like idk 3% of a rouge like first try lol if you haven’t played it there is 6 characters all with increasing difficulty and that’s the tutorial one also there is episodes to make it EVEN harder lol

@@Gus-is-Gus I have yet to see a single person fail this level and this guys whole thing Is rouge likes I mean ANY game with lvl s the FIRST one isn’t incredibly difficult and assuming you have some basic knowledge of how the type of game works I mean the second lvl even I can understand failing and sure maybe I am just incredibly good and rouge like strategy games I mean who knows maybe chess my closest experience to a rouge like strategy game helps me tons but I personally feel like MOST ppl could first or second try this lvl if they have any experience with this type of game and I’ve read a lot of the other comments from other ppl who played this game and friends and guess what I haven’t seen a single person fail that lvl simply because this lvl is a introduction to the game’s mechanics

Tl;dr it’s the tutorial lvl There are 6 characters 6 episodes in each all with increasing difficulty that’s to get you started I also first tried it along with many others honestly it would have been embarrassing if he didn’t I mean I’ve never played a rouge like in my life (apart from a chess one that I set to half difficultly cuz I play it more for the funny strats) and I first tried 2 characters in a row and 3rd tried the 3rd character he 2% the game with that run

Did you win a run? Yes. Did you beat the game? No. Dicey Dungeons is not like slay the spire where the aim is to beat a run but rather to beat a bunch of runs (called episodes in game) all of which have different rules on them. Claiming that you have beaten this game is misleading, especially since you've beaten a run with the easiest character on their easiest run (which most people that I have seen have beaten on their first try). Slight spoilers but to actually beat the game you need to beat most of the runs available in the game to unlock the final run. Beating that final run is beating the game. That being said I would love to see you play this game some more :)

Hey glad you liked it! I will come back for all of the achievements some day. I get where you're coming from. The title is more so shorthand for "can I win my first run on a new save without any upgrades/experience", but that's an ass title lol. As far as what I said after I won I don't think that's misleading since I also mentioned the 6 characters that all have 6 difficulty levels, and specifically said that there was plenty more to go through.

@@mintmuffled Yeah that's fair. I get where you're coming from with the title situation. Not gonna lie when I saw the title of the video I was really intrigued by the prospect of doing all the episodes on 1 life considering that Dicey is one of my favourite games and it does get really challenging (character 5 episode 4 still haunts me) so I was a little disappointed this was not like a highlight reel of that journey. That being said it's not a big deal. I'm just happy you enjoyed playing this game. We need more people playing it :)

You should try to first try slay the spire, it’s sort of similar to this game and winning first try isn’t too hard. Worst case scenario if you lose your first try you can “first try” another character
