Can I bring this 50 YEAR OLD MOWER back to life?? | Project 56 Phase 1

Welcome to Phase 1 of my 1972 John Deere 56 Restoration.
In today's episode, we dive into the simple installation tasks that I need to do to get this mower running properly. With its recently acquired engine swap, I'll need to make some part fabrications so the motor can be compatible with the old chassis.
Like any project though, it's not as easy as it seems. I make a lot of mistakes learning more and more about this mower as I go, but there's one thing for certain. It's that I refuse to give up and I'll keep pushing through all the lessons this mower is teaching me.
We have a lot to cover and learn, so join me as we travel this journey together.

I collect jd garden tractors. You definitely need one of the 1970s-1980s 300 series tractors. I paid $100 for a fully restored 316 running and mowing. Paid $200 for a 314 in good shape running and working too.

Hey Buch you should try to find and fix a john deere 116 and fix it. I personaly have a john deere116 and am in the process of fixing so i would much appreciate it if you would keep up the good vids!

After watching this it makes no sence with the carb. I was going to ask about pin holes in the factory float but I'm just sitting and scratching at the issues

You need a carb rebuild kit for the carburetor comes with a new float and a new seat. I think the timing is off. That is set by the distance of the coil from the armature. Easiest way to set that is with a business card. Not the laminated ones, the playing card stock ones. Turn the armature until the two steel pieces are where the coil sets. Put the cardstock on the armature, . Then turn the armature to get the cardstock out from in between the two. This affects the timing of the engine. Too close or too far in the timing is off. I didn't see what you did to the governor, that's the ride with the string. But if you attach that to the throttle cable that's not correct. I've used all your mods in game hopefully you'll continue this real life adventure.
