Can I Bring This Ryobi 40v Battery Back to Life?

I need to finish testing mine. I tested maybe 40 or so and didn't have any self-dischargers but they were all super low around 0.1V out of the pack. Rebuilding these would be cool since it seems a majority of the cells are good, just a total pain in the ... to disassemble in a way that can be reassembled later.

I just noticed the solder on each side of the shunt. They really skimped out on that one. LOL

From what I can tell, these packs go out of balance really easily and then the pack stops charging. I'm not sure how or if these packs are able to balance. Anyways, these things are a pain to disassemble. I doubt you could pull one apart without wrecking the bms. So I just year then apart and salvage cells.

I have an older style 5ah 40v pack that only shows 1 LED for charge. Put it on the charger and it immediately shows it as full charge, no red error LEDs. wonder if it has a similar problem. Any thoughts?

The Lg cells are junk , its seems only 15%( 2-3 ot of 20 cells) can still hold a charge over their lifespan in these packs, If They charge up , it seems to be their characteristic and alot of people pull them out dead even thogh they look brand new , and try to bring them back to life but they dont last at all and discharge in about a week or 2 . I have seen this with Lg cells alot and it tells me they are just cheaply made and only work properly for a short period of time like 1-2 years and then they begin to leak down to 0volts . This is why many ryobi packs with Lg batteries are dead dead dead all over they place..

The one I had the bad cell actually reversed voltage

Like your videos! Question: if it had not gone to zero and you had decided to charge that group, could you have charged it in place using the psu using the same points you tested it at. I have a battery where all the groups read 3.5 except for one that reads 2.5.

Thanks! You should be able to charge just that group of cells, but as always, do it outside.
