Even if they took her to see her son and confirm he is okay, it is possible that on the drive home the same fear could return and she could not remember the visit. My grandmother had dementia but managed to function just well enough that it took years for my uncle's to get POA and get her out of her home and into a safe situation where at least one of them visited her every day. That whole process she thought she was okay and had convinced herself they were out to get her and she hated them while one of her grandkids played into her delusions and used it to get money from her and attempted to rewrite her whole will. It was terrible. It took her getting injured in a fall, storming through a parking lot after she raged and threatened a bank employee who was only trying to help her for my Uncle's to get her into a hospital and get POA so they could actually help her. Even after she was in a safe place and being cared for. She would ask to see my Dad or grandpa who had both passed away nearly a decade before and couldn't retain it if she was told. This poor lady clearly needs care, but from my experience it can be a long road to get people to admit it, accept help, and even harder to get them to leave their home when it is no longer safe for them to be alone. If she has had this delusion for years, and was intercepted by an officer recently as well in a similar circumstance then these people are likely worn down, exhausted, and it isn't that they don't care. They are obviously worried and out looking for her after all, but seeing someone you love suffering both physically and also emotionally and knowing that no matter how you comfort them today tomorrow they will be shattered and heartbroken again is very hard to endure.

As somebody whose mom died of a drug overdose and my dad still do drugs I wish my mom made that decision but I was adopted by my aunt and uncle and I found out that I have two used to be three biological half brothers. I talked to one of them. It’s hard because I wish I knew my mom.

Disgrace that she got pregnant whilst knowing full well that she has an out of control addiction- FIFTH child at that. People that do this are so selfish. My dad died of pneumonia as he was already so weak from the AIDs that he caught from sharing needles with strangers (his cousin died too.) And I'll never ever forgive that man for making the random decision one day to start taking heroin- he hadn't even taken drugs before so talk about jumping straight into the deep end. Youngest sibling was just a year old when he died. Ruined his own life and deprived us of a father. So selfish. I've had my own addiction problems and I know introducing kids into the situation could bring nothing but even more hardship.

The first story hit really close to home for me. A cop talked me off of a bridge when i was 15 and in a really bad place. He could've just pulled me off, calling it a day, but instead spent 45 mins calming me down. Genuinely saved my life and im forever grateful for this man. Still think about him a lot. Edit: I can't keep thanking everyone individually, so I just wanna put it here, that I'm very thankful for all the nice messages. It can be tough when that’s all you need to feel a bit better or keep making an effort to move forward, but you’re too proud or embarrassed or ashamed or whatever else to ask for a hug or handshake etc. So I commend the gentleman sitting in his car on the side of the road for asking for a hug. Asking isn’t easy. And I equally commend the officers for readily giving him a hug and then talking things over with him and letting him know that help is available to him. Might have saved that man’s life that day.

The cop who picked up the pregnant woman and got her food almost had me crying…I was pregnant, on drugs, and homeless…and I rember feeling the most alone in my life I’ve ever felt, and always hungry and worried for my baby. out of 6 rehabs that wouldn’t take me, I broke down to a social worker and she spent hours making phones calls to get me a bed somehwre and thanks to that social worker I got a bed for free and stayed 4 months in rehab thanks to her. She would even come visit me in rehab. My baby was born drug free, and I’m now 10 years sober…little things like and little acts of kindness can truly change not only one persons life but multiple people….she not only changed mine but now my child has a better future…

There's a weird link in this video, toddlers and those with dementia feel emotions on the same "undeveloped" level, big feelings can come out as seemingly irrational things, it's the same rules apply though, don't contradict, redirect, keep them safe and deal with the maslows hierarchy of needs.

I understand that it would be pretty exhausting and frustrating trying to care for a family member with dementia/alzheimers but the way that woman kept patting her on the arm so roughly and saying "you didnt do what you were supposed to do." Like no duh she probably forgot she was supposed to do that. She doesnt have her normal logic and reasoning skills at full capacity anymore. And its not like she is running around naked hitting people. She is trying to find her son and see him before he dies. He may not be actually dying, but maybe she should live with or near this son. It seems like thats what she really wants.

My husband lost 2 of his closest friends within months and was having a breakdown and i called the cops thinking he was going to hurt himself and the cops that came to our house went to the park and sat on the swings with him as he vented then came back the next week just to say hi. Cops get so much bad rep from the handful of cops out there. I love seeing videos of cops just doing their job and helping others. Thanks for the video!

I know what it’s like to be in that position. My fiancée Kate died suddenly in 2019 at just 26 years old, absolutely broke me. Thing was it didn’t really hit until the day of her funeral. That’s when it became real. At her wake people kept buying me drinks, I drank 8 pints there but couldn’t get drunk. So when I went home I went to the store and bought a 20 pack of beer and drank all of them and then started on the whisky. And thought fuck it I don’t want to do this without her. That night was the only time in my life that I’d ever seriously thought about killing myself and saying fuck it

These are the kinds of cops that helped me when I called 911 when I was 9. My dad was having a massive seizure in our living room of the trailer, and my mom wasn’t home. The police officers sat with me, rubbed my back while I cried and held me, and even gave me a police fox plushie while another officer gave my mom a police escort back home. We need more people like these in law enforcement.

Oddly enough, I know Fred Parisek, I've known him my whole life, he's always been like a dad to me, and when I watched this in class today, I heard his name and immediately looked at the screen and seeing such a good man that I've known for so long, finally get recognized, made me so happy. He's done stuff I can't even begin to get into, but he's my inspiration. For context, he and my mom were partners when he was a paramedic, they've been best friends for years, after I was born, he took me under his wing and saw me as a daughter to him, so now my mom and I argue over who's his best friend.

I am in tears watching the third video with the pregnant lady and The incredibly kind officer who didn't judge her or make her feel less than, got her some food and enjoyed a meal with her like a human being, I'm sure he has no idea how much that meant to her to be treated like a person even though they were down on their luck and having a hard time. I want to hug this man, very kind very sweet and is a true community service officer!! All departments need officers like this!!! ❤❤❤

@@Stubby1031 I think it depends on the restaurant. It could be a White Castle rule (or at least that specific White Castle) to not charge police officers. I personally see no problem with it if a restaurant or business wants to give officers free services. I would think cops would be more likely to protect their establishment with a bit more fervor, which could possibly lead to less crime in the area. Plus, it helps the image of the business seeing as it is charitable and, in turn, draw in more customers. It's a win/win/win for everyone.

“Every contact with us doesn’t have to be a bad thing” DAMN that hit me hard. Police officers are often associated with only negative experiences like arrests and warrants and police brutality. Yes, these things exist but this PO demonstrated that they are also there as a resource. They are there to serve and protect. It’s easy to forget that when a lot of publicized police encounters involve what people perceive as negative.

During a bad stint of mental health issues, I met many police officers. Some were absolutely fantastic and some...not so much. There was 4 of them one night that were annoyed with me, laughed and made jokes at my expense. When the paramedics arrived, they heard what was being said and apologized to me. They were shocked at how rude the police were being. Then I had 3 others that stayed in contact with me for a few years as I received treatment and got better. While I will never forget how the rude ones treated me, I keep more space in my mind and heart for the 3 that saved my life and stuck by me until I was better.

I’m glad that the other 3 were kind and helped you but yes, often the negative experiences can take up more mental space which is so hard. Same. As someone with treatment resistant depression among other issues, just seeing his pain and hearing him cry made me cry myself. Because I’ve been there. Those cops almost certainly saved his life. I really like how in the interview with the cops after, they talked about how they told him that talking about his issues didn’t make him less of a man. Men’s mental health has so much stigma, especially when it comes to expressing feelings. People worry about being seen as a “wuss” yet we are human and we all deserve support and to be able to be open about our experiences❤

Alzheimer's is what she has, my mother worked with Alzheimer and dementia patients when she worked in the nursing home. They usually aren't violent. It also just depends on what they believe is happening at the moment, like her son being sick, it's not fact, but you can't convince them otherwise, and pushing against that belief and stopping her from it will cause her to act out either violently or just start having even more of a breakdown.

My dad has dementia, he doesn't even know how to talk anymore. This lady was talking fine, She knew where she was going, It's not like she woke up, not realizing what she was doing or where she was. The red flag is her granddaughter saying she's selling her house and putting her into a home. Why not take her to see her son? Or try to keep a better eye out for her. She must be either home alone or they don't care enough to let her walk out of the house like that every day. Of course, we don't know the full situation, she could go and visit her son and still wake up the next day saying he's gonna die. The first thing her granddaughter said she was selling her home and she wanted her to go to the mental institution. She didn't ask if her Grandma was alright, she didn't even talk to her. It shows she doesn't care about Grandma. I've been a caretaker for 23 years, and I've been at my breaking point plenty of times, it's hard work taking care of somebody. No matter how upset I am or how broken I feel the first thing I would do I see if my Family member or patient is okay. It is a horrible disease you are right. My father knows who I am but he can't remember my name. So he calls me a different name every hour 😂. He doesn't know what day of the week it is, what city we live in, basic questions. You can see his eyes light up when he's trying to answer the question as it is stuck in his mind but he can't say the words. I love him very much sometimes he'll call me a weird name that i've never heard of before and it cracks me up. One day he was back in his bedroom and I was sitting on my couch in the living room. He yelled Margaret! At the top of his lungs. I went in there and said who the f*ck is Margaret. He looked at me so seriously and said I don't f*cking know. I laughed so hard for about a week straight any time I thought of the name Margaret.

I've had an old lady who wanted to go too care for her little children every day, she didn't remember that they were all grown up. This was just two examples of many. Many will always try to walk away to get to where they think thing still is, putting themselves in danger outside. So the best thing for this woman can be to live in a home were people with proper education and skills can handle them and keep them safe. Not all can afford to stay at home and be a full time caregiver for family members who needs it.

I'm not saying that she didn't have dementia or Alzheimer's, she didn't seem so far gone like my father, but I know some days they have good days, and other days they're completely gone. I've worked in healthcare for 23 years. My concern was, the grand-daughter did not ask if she was OK, that was a red flag to me. I understand people with Alzheimer's or dementia if they believe something like you said, they will escape. I also know that they can get extremely angry and combative towards people. I stated that we did not know the full story, but it worried me how she keeps escaping, and the granddaughter seemed like she didn't care. The granddaughter also stated Grandma was supposed to be taking a nap and she was supposed to tell her when she woke up, that's when she snuck out of the house. If this happens every day she's not being watched well. I'm not saying escaping is never gonna happen but if it's happening every day that's a problem. The grand-daughter seemed like she was at the end of her rope and I know taking care of somebody can take a toll on you, especially when it's a loved one. Like I stated she could have seen her son and not remember. The officer offered to give her a ride to Grove so he didn't think she was in danger, but police have limited training. In the video, the grand-daughter said they called and said the son was fine, he was there yesterday. Grandma stated she lost one child and she is afraid to lose another. A lot of people in other comments agreed that her family seemed to not care and she wasn't getting the care she needs. I pray she gets the care she needs and her family finds peace.

They family was already in the midst of conversations with many of the other officers when that officer walked up to them, and we just saw an edited version of the situation from his sole point of view. We have no idea what she discussed with all the other officers or even all the conversation she had that that one officer who wore the body cam we say. They might have asked her condition first thing. You wouldn't know either way. Many people watch these and think they are getting the whole situation like a movie...not at all the case. You are just getting a partial (aka edited) version from one single officer's point of view. There were many officers on scene and you have no idea what her conversations with all those other officers were.

The woman in the third case truly impacted me when she accepted that she needed to stop being selfish and start prioritizing her children's well-being. Although it may seem obvious, not everyone sees it that way. My mother was with several men during my early childhood; those who didn't hit her would hit me, and vice versa. She made my life a nightmare, just to avoid returning to my grandparents' house and apologizing, which would have allowed us to live with them and let me experience love and stability. The best decision my mother ever made was leaving me in someone else's care. It’s hard to admit, but it's my reality. Thank you, Mom. You did it late… but you did it.

Those comments are pissing me off SO BAD, you can just tell most of them haven't gone through anything like it Alzheimer's DESTROYS both the person suffering from it and their family, I had to see it myself for the last 14 years until my grandmother died this year, and these past 5 years with my grandfather (who's still living). I cannot believe people are actually blaming the family when this illness causes so much pain and distress and makes you feel useless, seeing your relatives lose themselves and forget about everything, even about you. These comments are so unsympathetic. Plus, there comes a time where you physically can't be watching them all day or make sure they have eaten or gone to the bathroom, and they can get into serious danger in those situations, and that's what nursing homes are for! To prevent that! And also just like you said, putting your relatives into a nursing home doesn't mean that you want to get rid of them or that you'll forget about them. We visited my grandmother very often in her nursing home, stayed with her, and we even changed her from a nursing home to another that was closest to us and offered a type of attention and care we prefered to the previous one.

Deputy Tomothy, my brother overdosed and died on opiates, he was a three sport mvp, soccer, hockey, baseball. he stepped on some trash and a piece of metal embedded in his foot, he got hooked on the pain meds and depressed he couldnt compete in anything. after just a few months of using pills to supplement what he was used to money ran out and heroin was 10x cheaper, he died after using for just a short time. some people truly are victims of medical industry and a will power that loses the battle. thank you for treating people in desperate need of help with some humility.

The 2 year old crying for his daddy absolutely broke my mama heart. I sobbed right along with him. I actually bought something called a Roth ID Tag for if we’re ever in an accident, or god forbid, car theft with my baby still in it happens (though I would never leave her in the car even if I’m only gonna be gone for two minutes I just wouldn’t even go in. I’m absolutely not judging this father though. I can only imagine his fear and grief in that situation). It has identification of my daughter and emergency contacts. It’s high vis and super reflective and you can tear it off so it turns into a bracelet to put on your kid. Having something like that or even a handwritten note taped thoroughly to the car seat would’ve made that situation much easier for the authorities to identify the boy and contact his emergency contacts. So so scary and I’m so glad he was reunited with his daddy

We get discouraged to write names down on clothes or a backpack so the kid cannot be groomed by a kidnapper or perv and thinks the man may know him /suggest a familiarity that is not there. Its better to teach your kid his full name and later address or phone number.

It helps to identify the child and their emergency contacts and is especially useful if the child is not able to communicate (too young, non verbal, etc.). It does not go on clothing or accessories like backpacks. And the info is facing the inside so the high vis side is on the outside. You wouldn’t be able to see the info if you happened to catch a glimpse of it, all you would see is a very shiny sticker

It's not even KZbin. Advertisers will have a list of words that they don't want to use in association with their products. So anything to do with death, reproduction, etc are often considered undesirable, especially when it comes to Christian advertisers. For a channel to be viable, ad revenue is important and it's better to censor stuff than risk all your hard work coming to nothing.

The first story with the cop saying "You need a hug? Well I'll give you a hug!!" I think they knew how much he needed some support and to know that there's people out there that genuinely care, those are some great cops!! These are the professionals that new law enforcement officers should look up to and do their best to emulate!! Because it truly does make a difference in people's lives, Now I just want to hug these cops!! ❤❤

The pregnant woman went from panic to calm because of a simple meal and a decent conversation. He was thinking about the innocent being in her body and gave her the resources she needed. Good on that officer.

I have nothing but respect for the first cop. I was in a similar situation when I tried to end my own life and I wish someone like him would’ve been there for me. I had plenty of doctors, nurses, therapists, but the way this cop talks shows it’s coming from his heart. It was always hard to tell if people genuinely cared about me or were just reciting what they practiced for their job. The way he talks is so human, and he’ll never know just how much it means to someone in that situation. He couldn’t have done it any better.

I can see what you mean by that but I mean, that was probably a pretty awful time for “good cops” too. You’re just trying to do your job to protect and serve and suddenly an influx of people are screeching about how horrible you are. You trip over your words in a situation like that.

The first guy nearly brought me to tears. I went through a *very* dark time in my life, I began self harm and attempted multiple times. I didn’t tell anyone until I met my close family friend. I would tell him everything that I felt and everything that was going on. Unfortunately things took a dark turn and my parents found out. I’m doing ok now but seeing that man break down and cry while the cop hugged him broke my heart. It reminded me of when my family friend gave me a hug and I cried for almost an hour..thank you so much for helping him♥️

My son-in-law is a police officer a lot like these officers and I show so much gratitude officers with compassion instead of officers with egos thank you to all officers with compassion life isn't easy for everybody not too many people really want to be homeless
