Great video Jon! I've been lucky when it comes to milk spots, 95% of my silver has come from Martin and he's very careful about not sending out coins with milk spots (unless you're buying reduced second grade coins), I also hate toning so all my coins are kept in airtight capsules, and I seal all my bars in heat shrink plastic even the investment grade one's, it keeps them shining like new forever.

You and I are a dying breed. Shiny seems to be running out of fashion. But milk spots and toned coins ick. Yes u have a few toned but never by me.

I had some success with silver polish on Bullion Coins twice, do not wish to repeat cleaning silver bullion coins, nice video jonrms.

The chemicals I used in this were industrial. And the rubbers did nothing but cause surface damage. The problem is your removing the gloss shine to get the detergent underneath it to be removed. Then your left with a matt area.

Hey Jon I know the video was primarily about milk spots, but just wanted to give you a heads up on the silver slide. A silver plated copper round, or copper will give almost exactly the same response, test it out and see. So yes the slide is a good helper to indicate you probably have silver, but it can be tricked by copper. If you want to be absolutely sure, specific gravity is the way to go. Most everything has a unique specific gravity, kinda like a fingerprint, and even though some things are close to each other, there is enough of a difference to identify them correctly, IE Tungsten from Gold. Take care Bro, enjoyed the video!!

I know bud. I got a tonne of slack for ripping apart a fake pamp bar. It was full of tungsten

I’ve removed some with a jewelers cloth. I’m sure it leaves micro abrasions but sometimes they’re not obvious- and it’s just bullion. But it depends on the coin, they don’t always come off.

I have seen tiny specs removed. But on a Queens Beasts or a premium value coin it is not only painful but a disgrace that the mints have or are starting to get better.

Awesome showing of what you do and don't want to do in reference to cleaning a coin. I do try on other silver items b4 I try on a coin. I only lightly clean coins that I need for my great grand kids. Cause in 2038 on will be when they get thier collections I've made for them.

Luckily the majority of my coins aren't milk spotted...... but the ones that are milk spotted do annoy me- especially the 10oz kookaburra that I have 😣

Well if your ever sick of it and can't sell it I know someone who will melt it down 😶

Nice try! There's something I've wanted to try on milk spots but don't have the set up. Have you tried blasting it with fire to remove the milking? I'm thinking you might be able to burn off the stain before the silver melts 🙂👁

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Yeah that doesn't work either

Some good Info' Jon, but the bottom line is that it should not be there in the first place. It is caused at the mint, and they don't, won't, do anything to eliminate it. It does not bother the mint because it only shows after a period of time and only costs the purchaser £££££.
@AceBullion4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, they can release a premium or high relief item and their excuses are " its just bullion " well I for one had enough and I have a trick up my Ace Sleeve!!!! 😎 Ace Bullion VRS the Mints. Hmmm this might be fun.
