Some tips for Oyumaru. It works best when you let the silicone sit in properly boiling water for a time. It'll become extremely soft and you can cast really great detail with it. Second is using Miliput to capture the detail. It's softer, and has a much finer grit that Green stuff. Either way, The work you did looks awesome.

Great work! I took 3 days to build mine but the longest working session was about 8 hours on day 1. Plus - I started feeling sick on day 3 from all the plastic dust and glue fumes. And at the last moment I realized that I don't have the right magnets for the arms so it took 2 more days to get and mount those. Right now it stands on my shelf ready for painting. As I don't use the airbrush I expect it to be a week long painting session.

I have commission painted dozens of Knights, for me the trick is definitely getting into a routine, I don't have to look at the instructions anymore so that saves time, I set myself a 1 sitting deadline for a Questoris or Dominus, my Cerastus and Acastus took a lot longer due to the amount of clean up and additional work needed with resin. . For Armigers I try to get 3 done per sitting. . I recently retired from comission work as it was spoiling my enjoyment of painting for myself. . I have over 100 imperial knights left paint in my collection so I have turned it into basically a production line. . I magnatize all the heads, shields and weapons so its easy to convert, swap out parts and add bits of extra details later.

Unironically, the two best starter armies are Knights and Custodes, primarily from a build and paint perspective. A knight is two things: A metal body and panels that you can spray paint. Custodes need a gold spray and res on the tassels. Then it’s a matter of washes and a bit of trim, and you’re done - Guaranteed to look better than the paint caked metal minis that a lot of us started out with :)

From experience: UV resin with oyumaru will most likely cause issues, as it releases heat while curing, which will likely soften it and lose shape or detail. I used it once for some buttons and it was a mess.

Fan theory, a couple of Ork Mekboys suffered head trauma and started to believe they were humans and so somehow they made it onto the design team for the Knight Castellan, they may have believed they were human enough to fool the other humans (or they didn’t want to argue with the seemingly friendly Orks) but they are still Orks so when discussing what weapons platforms they needed all they could think of was just add more shooty things because more shootas is always good.
