The title of this video is about connecting a stereo to a plotter, yet this video was about NMEA, with a brief mention of the Fusion. Having said that your chartplotter is for navigation, and monitoring your vessels engines and systems.. they're not designed for entertainment. This is the reason why chartplotters can have internet connectivity but don't come with a web browser. You can get a stand-alone Fusion remote control much cheaper than you can buy a chartplotter anyway.

Thanks for sharing Murn. Some boaters like to connect their Marine Stereos via N2K to their chartplotters so they can control their marine stereo at the helm.

The majority of OEM boat manufacturers are moving to digital switching platform which will allow the chart plotter to not only control entertainment, but every other function on your boat including lights, blowers, pumps, windlass’, seakeeper, horns, transfer pumps, live wells, surround views, as well as anything and everything else you can have on board. Pretty much every OEM is going in this direction, even smaller models down to 18’er’s. It’s the (very near) future.

Got a new chartplotter w/ NMEA2K a few yrs ago. Bought a starter kit and hooked up the depth sounder & few other things. Now every year I keep wondering what else I want to add. It's addictive! (This year I'll probably buy the nmea fuel flow meter). And on that note - can you do a video on any of the aftermarket engine monitoring systems that are supposed to convert data?

Good suggestion... will keep that in mind.

Entertaining but I wonder if Gary was happy with being directed to your website for an answer?😂

Doesn’t running the stereo off the chart plotter use more power? Then you have to concern yourself with solar or battery power if your out on the hook?

Ed, the chartplotter only allows the control of the Fusion stereo remotely. You are correct, better to control your Fusion stereo directly to save power.

Use more power? No. Does your pc consume more power if you’re connected to the internet?

hi .. Is the Garmin starter kit compatible with B&G or will I need a special B& G one? Cheers
@raymiller3153 жыл бұрын
They're fully compatible, though the T's might not line up exactly between brands. (IE, one might be fully vertical, the other a couple of degrees off to the side). The Garmin ones feel a little more premium than any of the Simrad brands, but the Maretron ones feel bulletproof (you pay for the privilege there though)!

Yes it does

@@raymiller315 Absolutely. Pick a brand and stay with it. I now have a bunch of Lowrance T's in a box because I went with one of a different brand and they don't all sit flat to the bulkhead. Went with Maretron 2, 3 or 4 part sets, very nice and shorter.
