Wooohoooo! I'm caught up with your vlogs! Of course, I now need you to produce at least 4 vlogs a week to feed my habit :) You need to nip the McDonalds thing in the bud. Children should NOT dictate what and where you eat! One of the things I love about France is the children's menu in a restaurant basically lists smaller portions of the adult's menu. Rant over! Heidi my son is a manager at Aldi (Milton Keynes) and he popped in yesterday with 4 of the biggest red peppers I have ever seen! I chopped them up and put them in olive oil in an oven dish and added lots of mixed herbs and garlic powder from the spice rack. I roasted them for about 20 minutes and then added a can of tomatoes for another ten minutes and then put it in the blender. OMG it was amazing. All creamy and yum yum. Just thought I would tell you as you probably have all the other ingredients on the boat! ps sorry for waffling :) x

@@TheNarrowboatPirate well it’s pretty normal for us to have snow. What’s not normal is how warm it has been. Hasn’t been below Zero F yet which is the cut off for plugging our cars in to warm the engines to start them. As usual when we get warm weather the rest of US and Canada get hit hard. Upper New York State has been getting snow storms with 3 or 4 feet over night. Life is easy so far this winter.

Really liked this one Cap’n H! I know the low sun is hard on the helm but it gives your filming a lovely light, and your camerawork is so easy on the eye. I can’t abide soup, don’t ask why, it must be one of those childhood things that never got corrected, like eating cheese. Why would I eat something that smells worse than my own feet? I do like that stealth cooker though! What a great idea! Thanks for doing these great pieces to camera, they are quietly building into an encyclopaedia of narrowboating and you’re presenting it liberally sprinkled with great fun, great music and just the right topping of rum and kindred spirits.

Try vegetas seasoning from the polish aisle. Learn to eat nettle tops Free and full of goodness. Works well in soups, omelette etc.. Heat kills the stings.

@@TheNarrowboatPirate top six to eight inches of nettle. Can be simply cooked with butter like spinach as a side vegetables or green. Most nutritious plant out there. Nettle and cheese/tomato and herb pasta, omelette or mash. Nettle and bacon soup nice and simple. Dead nettles look same apart from they don't sting and their leaves are rounded. They will work in a salad. All bits of plant are edible, roots good for medical reasons, stalks make a good string. Can also make wine and beer with it. Romans used to thrash their legs with them to numb their legs to the cold before having them for tea. I lost all feeling in my hands on Salisbury plain walking through a nettle field which lasted at least three days - so it might have a bedroom use as well..........

My soups always used to go down the drain, I just couldn't sort it but now I use pumpkin as a base make it up and it lasts a week for lunches. And yes... McD's sigh for kids no getting around it at times. Have a great week =-)

Interesting vlog Heidi and the soup looked good. I’m veggie so no chicken stock for me. Plus the scones a bit burnt is way I like them. Keep warm on this freezing night x
