Simulation games like this really do have a knack for creating the most batshit situations without even blinking. I play a lot of Rimworld, and I once had a rabid guinea pig bite someone's nose off, while the person was standing upright. I grew up with guinea pigs, and while they're shockingly athletic when they want to do something they're not supposed to, I have yet to meet a guinea pig with a powerful enough jump to hit the face of an average person not lying on the ground. On a related note, if you want to see a guinea pig pull some Ultimate Beastmaster shit to go somewhere he's not supposed to, look up 'Scotty's Animals, Gus Escapes AGAIN!' . Gus is an absolute fluffy-faced riot

If you only deconstruct it from the top, you can actually also rebuild the one piece of connective scaffolding as well and send squads down to recover more resources. Functionally creating an unbypassable chokepoint with none of the actual risk of isolating yourself in the sky. No need to spend god knows how long mining dirt and stone for stockpiling, just be ready to retreat into the skyfort and rip off the top of the ladder whenever a goblin raid arrives!

Monk gnomes are my favourite defense. Anytime we come under attack by anything a horde of teeth and fists rips it to pieces. Also, with trapdoors its possible to make false pathways up. You just rig it so a switch raises one trapdoor while dropping the other and either one while raised would create a stable path. Goblins will walk up trying to cross trapdoor (a), hit the switch, close a and open trapdoor (b). Then when they step off (b) drops them to their death and (a) resets so the next goblin can fall into the trap again. If you pair it with a couple one way walkways tou can set it up so noone can get out, but the ai thinks it can get in...but it cant. I dont like using it because I don't have the patience to set up a work around for visitors but in cases of extreme isolationism like this it should get the job done. ...or i guess you could also just turn off goblin tunnels in the world generation screen...
