Today, we're going to DIY this expensive and luxe Anthropologie plant stand. This retails for $68 and I'm hoping to recreate it for half the price.
Supplies you'll need (with links):
Wooden Arches Decorative Object: amzn.to/4bbofn7
Ceramic Dessert Plate: amzn.to/3yfGmtG
Rustoleum Matte Spray Paint Cover: amzn.to/44yEMzj
E6000 Industrial Glue Adhesive: amzn.to/3JVXKGp
Baking powder (for chalk paint)
Paint of your choosing
Paint brush
Instructions:
1. First we need to ensure the two arches are the same height. I want the plant riser to be the middle ones height so I’m just going to eyeball it and draw a line with a pencil.
2. I’m going to use a table saw and a mitre box. I will say that the shape of the arch wasn’t ideal for this box, but I don’t have my usual worktable to clamp this down.
3. I’m going to sand the edges so they aren’t rough and jagged. I’m also going to sand the tops so that the plate sits neatly on top. It’s helpful to have a level. Once I got it to a good level, I gave things a quick clean.
4. Then, we’ll need to paint both arches and the ceramic plate with your DIY chalk paint. Add baking powder to your paint and mix it until it’s dissolved. I clearly didn’t measure it and honestly maybe I put too much. But we’ll make it work and get to painting. You may have to do multiple coats for this. Let fully dry for several hours.
5. Once fully dry, I’m going to quickly spray to seal it all in. Spray the finish evenly on the plate and arches - this specifically has a matte coating. Let fully dry for a few hours.
6. Lastly, assemble! You’ll want to make sure the middle of the arches are aligned with the center of the plate. You’ll also need to space out the arches about an inch. Add industrial glue and apply pressure. You can add more pressure by stacking heavy objects on top. Let dry for 24 hours.
