Can I drive my truck with no serpentine belt ??

I drove a 2006 Honda accord to the end of my driveway to get towed by doing this, didn't damage the car at all just had no powersteering, thanks for the vid

I drove my Jeep Liberty for 10 miles without the belt and didn't overheat nor the battery drained but was during the day in Autumn. So, no lights and weather was cold.

I was wondering about the water pump not spinning, Im wondering if your not in stop & go traffic and your electric fans are working it might be okay? Glad you made it safely!

My whole serpentine belt came off with the cog, managed to drive 30 minutes home and it was fine

I just went through this today, battery light came on and it got hot but I made it home thank god, gonna have new belt put on tomorrow. I let the engine cool down for hours because that sucker drank some coolant, then I filled it back up. Hopefully nothing was damaged, I'm going to have the radiator flushed and new coolant put in and have a compression test done on all cylinders.

its okay to run at short distance without serpentine but you wont have AC, battery gets drained, steering wheel hard to turn and possible overheating but short distance is fine.

Dark Toad One How did that work out? My wife ran the truck with no belt for about 5 miles, up hill. She did not notice it overheated but the coolant was empty when I got home to check it. Just wondering if you had any head gasket issues?

@@smoke05s I drove for about nine miles but I slowed down to 45 mph. The temp went up for sure but I let it cool down for a long time once I got home and opened the hood that way air would circulate helping it cool down. The next day I went ahead and flushed the radiator and put new coolant in and it ran just fine. Compression test came out fine and no gasket issues.

It really depends on what car you have and for how long you're driving it, but I definitely wouldn't try it on a German car SMH

Literally writing this sitting in my 2004 mazda 6 that just went over an hour going 60mph with no belt and a blown head gasket...granted it takes 5 mins to get up to that speed but hey it didn't overheat, just lost so much power/compression she stalled out

My AC Compressor locked up and the same exact thing happened to me. Belt snapped.

Yeah mine snapped on me the other night and it got hot I drove 4.3 miles away and parked it got a ride home came back the next day with a belt after dark so I added coolant where some leaked out and started it up and drove it back home 4.3 miles and got in the drive way swung it in on the way my battery light was on and check gauges light was on and blinking time I got close to home temperature gauge was 250 degrees and I was coming up a hill it went down a little and was almost in the red bye the time the I pulled in the drive way and shut it off quickly and lines where so hot that it had the coolant lines sucked in ward I cut it off and let it cool down came out out checked the coolant fired it back up to see if it damaged the engine it didn't still runs good cause if they overheat and blow it will blow a rod or have the lifter pecking if it over heats too much

I actually had to drive my 2005 Nissan quest without the serpentine belt for like 4 miles and it never got overheated or never had any problem except that the light battery came on, you know but after that nothing, it drove perfectly

My belt needs to be replaced it’s still on but looks really old. Need to drive 3.1 miles to my mechanic which is like 7 minutes away. Do you think I’ll make it. I have a 2005 Honda Odyssey

Miggy Migs The reason why you can drive your car without a belt is because in my particular model the NissanQuest belt does not go through the water pump.

Miggy Migs but if you say that your belt is still on, I think you can drive it just pick a day and a time that there is no traffic and that you can make it there in one shot.. you should be OK

I wouldn’t do that if I was going far though the motor will literally blow up because the water pump is not working without the belt

It will start, serpentine belt or fan belt is different from timing belt.

you cant drive with the belt missing it will mess up the battery and over heat the engine and can make it catch on fire the belt cools the engine without the belt it will over heat and explode
