I have an intl insurance which I haven’t used in 4 years. A few month ago i had a big cancer surgery and just survived. The 6 weeks in BKK hospital was THB 9 mio. Plus 6 month chemotherapy each one cost 140k. Don’t underestimate the health care cost.

@smileoften-ft3hq19 күн бұрын
My biggest concern for growing old in thailand. Not being negative however health insurance older has such limited totals and may not pay for some reason so you put 10 million baht that can be erased if a major surgery then that's gone and no more safety net Thailand. Of course daily medical is affordable however free in Canada so must add to thailand budget. In the end Canadians wintering in Thailand and maintaining Canadian citizenship as safety net does have a point. I do not know USA comparison. Then again, don't live in fear and be happy ... throw the dart 😊

after i saw you in 2022 i had to go to Bumrungrad for what turned out to be gastritis. i have Blue Cross from work and the hospital is on the network, but they claimed they did not take the insurance. maybe i had a bad office clerk in the hospital. im glad it was only $200 and it took 6 months for the claim to reimburse me. hopefully i can get the coverage confirmed going forward. its about $675 for my family coverage

Swing is looking better and better.. Had a quintuple bypass, then stayed 10 days in and out of intensive care. Total cost was about 30,000 USD all in and since they billed my Blue cross Blue shield insurance from work they said they charged them the top dollar and insurance companies love them for it as their top price is way way cheaper than they would have to pay for it in the US.. Excellent surgeon and doctors, outstanding hospital and staff, great follow up which is ongoing and doesn't cost much. Meds of course are not cheap but way cheaper than in the US. Please stop telling people how good we have it here as there are all ready too many Farangs living here..😋😋 18yrs here and have no intention of ever moving voluntarily, so as I say quiet on how good we have it please.. 🤫🤫

Hey Chuck, I was fortunate to retire from a federal government job and kept my Blue cross blue shield insurance. It pays 85 percent of all medical bills. So I only have to pay the 15%. As for income living in Thailand, I would suggest at least $2,000.00 if you want to live as well as in America. I have been very fortunate that my Thai friend and I were able to find a good deal on a 3 bedroom 3 bath condo in Bangkok for around $300.00 per month. It's on a very narrow street that was built back in the day when not everyone had a car. The condo is just in the wrong place. If it was easier to get to, I have no doubt it would cost at least $800.00 per month. ❤

Chuck's estimated hospital cost seems quite low compared to others. Ten million baht for a heart attack needing a bypass takes a big hit on self-insurance.
@notime2bsad14 күн бұрын
You are completely Wrong and with a couple clicks you will see the average cost for heart surgery in Thailand is around $13,000 usd your 10mil baht is $287,000 about $230,000 more than you can get in America. If you are considering moving abroad learn to research instead of watching KZbin videos or assuming. www.bangkokhospital.com/en/page/cardiovascular-surgery

hay guys... for what it's worth I keep pretty good records of my month to month. We live in Pattaya, for the month of October my budget was just under $4000 USD for my wife and I. We live in a nicer condo at 22K + utilities about 25K total. I like to drink, not in girl bars but I like my jim beam. We go to the ATM about every 4 days on average and withdraw 10K and that covers booze, food, fast food, street food, water, bolt, eating out etc. We like going to the Villa market for some imported foods. Break down: ATM $2672 Rent/utilities $698 Villa market $305 Miscellaneous Lazada/visa/cell phone data plan/doctor/medications...$400 About $4000 total

Are you saying $4k a month and don't even own your own transport? That's nuts, even in a tourist trap like Pattaya, and I'd say extremely unrealistic for most people. I'm guessing you're probably a new arrival trying to impress people/your new-found love! Each to their own, if you're happy spending that kind of money in Pattaya, but there's way nicer places for far less money, and much healthier mentally, in Thailand. You'll grow out of it!

You are spot on about the price of medical care (and the other things). I've recently been battling an inner ear problem with both of my ears. It started while I was in the USA last month. The care I received in Ohio was crazy expensive, they didn't do much to help me, and were extremely conservative with the medication. Since I've been back, I've been to two different hospitals, seen 4 different ear specialists, got a bunch of scans/tests, and been prescribed a bunch of meds that are actually finally working. Everything all together was less than $100. In the US, I had to pay $150 just to see a regular doctor for 10 minutes that didn't do anything to help me.
@ericd108419 күн бұрын
Also, I might add. The ENT here in Vietnam said that over here they have access to a significant number of medications that are still waiting to be approved for use in the USA. The stuff I'm on now is one of them.
