I don't know why but popping sir hoses seems to be something fire engines enjoy. In our fire department we've got a 30 year old mercedes 1222. Runs like s charm, but it's getting into an age now where all the sir hoses star leaking. Luckily not the brake ones, but those related to the pump clutching it in or toggling the second pump which pulls the air out of the system. Luckily it's a relatively easy fix.
@lmm5 жыл бұрын
They just seem to enjoy breaking 😂 Which fire department is that?
@humbucker00765 жыл бұрын
@@lmm It's in one of the small volunteer firefighter departments in Germany. Generally speaking, there are a lot of really old and cool trucks still running in the volunteer fire departments, because they just work and it's really expensive to get new ones. I know for a fact that quite a lot still run 80's Mercedes Benz Unimog 1300L's. Or in the neighbouring village they are just in the process of getting an new engine. Until now they just had a trailer with a portable pump (powered by an old Vw Industrial Boxer) and an old VW T3 Bus/Vanegon. And when I say really old, I mean it. They have been using it for at least 30 years now and when they got it, it had already served a life circle as a police car.

Oh Lawrie! It was all going so well and you were enjoying the drive and then you weren’t. Seems your air system isn’t happy yet. Could be the pump started to over pressure because the relief valve stuck partially shut when up to temp. That blew the line where it was weak and now it’s leaking air at the relief rather than filling the tanks. Wasn’t this the pump you swapped from DNF? Might be worth replacing all the air lines in case they are perishing and time to strip the pump again. Surprised you didn’t do a trial run to get some miles to prove she’s fine before the wedding. Might be worth keeping some ovies and tools in one of the lockers on the next run. With spare air pump maybe? It’s been like two episodes in one with the second part being What’s Broken Now. How about that for value?
@lmm5 жыл бұрын
I got maybe five minutes of feeling happy whilst driving the thing before it broke! Yeah, this is the pump off the Dodge, which seemed to be working fine before hand. The pipe which blew however was a new replacement pipe - one of the newest bits on the truck! All the air system before the dump valve has now been removed to serve as a pattern for a brand new replacement, then I guess we'll see if the dump valve still wants to work... She had her little test run the other day - prior to fixing the compressor she wouldn't have even got that far! I used to carry most my tools around in her, but since coming to the shed she's not done much and the tools are being used on other vehicles!

No offense meant Lawrie, but I think your mistake was starting to trust her: my Grandfather used to fly backseat in the SR-71 Blackbird (and there's a point to this I assure you). He, and many other pilots and crew on the -71, used to say that "The minute you start trusting that plane, or thinking about something other than her, she'll notice and betray you." which with that thing could be anything from the navigation suite going to...well, let's say, "Spontaneously disassembling," and then maybe deciding to spit you out--at Mach 2. The point being, considering it very much feels like Jupiter just generally dislikes everyone and everything, maybe its wise to be a bit distrusting. because you'll note she was fine when you were worried then the instant you started to enjoy the ride...well..."pop."

She was disposed on 10th August 1995, going to IFF in Haverhill. She stayed there for 11 years when it was bought by Suffolk Fire Engine Services, and then Gardiner Associates Fire Investigation Training in Wethersfield. Eventually the company wanted a newer and smaller vehicle, so it left training services. It's owner then passed away, and it ended up on Bentwaters industrial park, from where I got hold of her. Ever any issues with plod driving with blues on show? normally they rather blues covered with a black cover or "sock" Although obviously its not being used or/and isnt tying to impersonate anything or anyone Also wondering if the beacon was always a single on one side or if it did originally have 2 one each side? And is it a hella beacon?
@coldstartdaily97385 жыл бұрын
just seen another vid and saw the second beacon is at back of cab
@lmm5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's a Norfolk fire service thing, they always used to have them diagonally. Plod has seen it several times, never had an issue, and there's a disabled button installed so they can't be turned on by the driver.
