Kerosene will help you get rid of old grease and oil

The engine starting issue is why steam railway locomotives have the pistons 90 degrees apart rather than the more obvious 180 degrees.

I’m curious why the first step is to take off the rods before taking off the base keeper and giving it oil? It’d surely be quicker and easier the other way around, no?

Dont know why. But when i rewatched the short the back of the temder looked like it was lower then usual.

After my initial shock, I was more worried about your tweezers! I was just waiting for them to bend!!
@PeterJewell215 сағат бұрын
Although I was like 'Noooo!' initially, you do make a very good case for opening them up. Also, a quick scan of ebay shows that they are not especially rare or excessively valuable! If you're patient you can easily pick these up for under a tenner (not necessarily unused), and I would suggest an excellent way of expanding your rolling stock. I picked up four Grafar GWR coaches in a job lot, and it was only when I opened the parcel I realised I had two suburban and two corridor, all different. But they are really nice, and rare enough to look interesting among the Tri-ang, Hornby, Airfix and Mainline coaches. Now need to get some more to make a train of each!

I didn't know model trains had tires 🤯
@KitsuneCentral11 сағат бұрын
Cheap ones do. The tires hide the lightweight construction. On this model, it's tender driven, and the tender isn't very heavy, even with the weights, so tires are needed. On modern engines, it's due to the all plastic construction, which isn't very heavy, and thus need for tires.

Hi laurie if you have stuck bolts on the loco any chance you get just keep spraying them down with wd40 and just before you leave it spray them down so they have long time to soak

Hi Lawrie, just caught up with this. Great video and awesome coverage. Thanks for covering Cato Inferno, was a real pleasure to meet you, even if we can't agree on how to spell our names lol. The locos are an A4, two P2s, and GWR railcar and a Steampunk Leander all modified further on here, in case anyone was wondering. I do regular railways too but this is great as an eye-catcher to bring to shows. Regards, Laurie,

Why don’t you take a pressure washer and get rid of all that “organic matter” and have some clean environment to work on? Getting her a nice washing in the beginning. Now you opened up everything and it is almost not possible anymore.
