CAN I GET THIS MAZDA TO STOP SMOKING? Replacing the TURBOCHARGER on a MazdaSpeed3 [PART 1]

In this video I will be removing the Turbocharger from a 2008 Mazdaspeed3 GT. The removal process took a bit longer than expected due to my inexperience with working on this car. I definitely learned some things during this process.

Were all the bolts easy to get to after you took out the Battery Box and EGR? I'm looking to replace CX7 turbo the same way you did... most other videos take off the exhaust manifold too... I would rather not do that if I don't have to.

I remplace the turbo and keep smoking how long I need drive for no smoke

I have to do the same thing to my cx7. What was the symptoms you had? I would get a lot smoke on acceleration after the car sat for it but. Would smoke for a couple of miles and then smoke will go away

The car would smoke a little under acceleration and deceleration. It would also smoke while idling. The turbo was replaced before any noticable performance issues.

My car only smokes when I do more than 2 at like 5krpm pulls when accelerating. Not going past 4k or at idle there is no smoke. Turbo seals going out?

@Hrnz.lenz. I changed the banjo bolt for the turbo and it made less smoke but I decided to just deal with it. Engine mounts eventually went out later down the road after a friend abuse my car and was a asshole about it. I sold the Mazda and ended up getting an auto TSX 07 because traffic started getting crazier in Houston.

if you pulled the turbo from underneath, you might have gotten away without removing the battery and ECU, at least this is true for the CX7 07-12.

Thanks for the tip. This was my first time replacing a turbo on this model car so it was definitely a learning experience. If I get a chance to do another job like this again I will keep that option in mind for sure.

Can you pull turbo from bottom with an AWD CX7 2010? Or is taking out battery box and egr best method? I see some videos taking out the exhaust manifold too - is that necessary on the CX7?

What if thread bolts are still stuck in old turbo changing mine on 2010 cx7 awd

I would try soaking the bolts with some type of lubricant like Wd40 or PB Blaster.

how long did it take u to do everything

I dont remember how long it took me exactly. But I'm thinking around 4 to 5 hours to get everything out. And about another 5 hours messing with the turbo and getting everything back together. Alot of time was used trying to get the turbo out with the battery box still installed. Atleast an hour was wasted due to stubbornness.

These are junk turbos,Mazda has many lawsuits,a pretty goodengine with a half ass turbo not doing well it's job Causing sludge and top end failure,there are shops that will remove this crap,
