As an iRacer of 10 years, the 1% goal is mighty hefty for the time commitment alone. However, don't let that dissuade you from becoming the best driver you can, and it certainly seems like you're heading int the right place. Enjoy every season and welcome to the show! Tips that may Braking is the most important aspect in iRacing and Sim Racing in general. This is what separates the pro's from the semi-pro's and so forth. The ability to efficiently and effectively slow the car down with minimal time loss is crucial. As a beginner your not fighting over hundredths here, you'll find seconds. The optimal line is great for new tracks to learn, but turn it off as soon as you can and start looking at braking signs as this will help down the line to spot reference points, and soon you'll be able to learn tracks without needing the visual line on. Practice your braking into corners, finding your braking reference sign or spot as much as possible, and remember to brake in a straight line. If you feel like your slowing down too much, then you know you can get off the brakes a little sooner, and the opposite applies if the car is constantly pushing or flying off the corner, move your braking point back. Master this and you'll find seconds in your pace. Comfortability in your physical setup will also help. You look very close to the wheel and I imagine your feet are probably almost vertical on the pedals. This all effects how quickly you can get up to speed and effectively use the brakes, make maneuvers, and how your eyes interpret the movements your seeing from the sim. Just as you want to be comfortable in a real car, you want to be comfortable in your sim setup as well. If your budget allows, when your able, invest in a proper racing seat mounted in a more laid back position. You don't need to go open wheel laydown style, but something that gets the wheel further in front of you and your pedals farther out. As well as having the monitor at a proper distance and height relative to the wheel. Racecraft - This is something that is very difficult for beginners. Most people will say in rookie races to stay at the back and avoid contact and survive the race, which is true, but if your never learning to pass anyone, and never learning to look ahead then your just setting yourself up to always run at the back. This will be your biggest improvement over time, racing wheel to wheel and being confident with where your positioning the car on the track. A few ways you can improve this, once you have a track down you feel comfortable driving run a few Ai races, turn the strength all the way down, and start in the back. Make it as many cars on track as you can. Learn where the passing zones are, learn how to maneuver around other vehicles on straights and tight spots on the track, and be confident in your moves. Learn how far away from the next car you can be to make an overtake. This is what gets most rookies in trouble, is simply not understanding the distance from their car to the next and thus resulting in divebombs and unnecessary contact. Once your comfortable hop into some real online races and use these skills. Just remember to be confident, but smart. You'll make mistakes, but it's all part of learning. Feel free to use these as you wish, or not, I'm just a random stranger on the internet. Best of luck!

Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. The key to iRacing is tire temperature. Every time you slide you add heat which loses grip. Be smooth to manage temps. Set up an AI race with their pace at maybe 35-50% pace range to begin with. Turn off qualifying and set your start position at 15th in a 20 car field. See how well you can do in a 10 lap race. Restart if you get any incident points. Once you can win, bump up thier pace. Get comfortable before joining public races. Good luck, cant wait to see your progress.

@@SimRacingKez I have a clutch pedal and I have it bound to a button I end up using the button 99% of the time. Find your version of like 80% then slowly go up (break slightly later on some corners your confident with and try applying the throttle slightly earlier on conf8dent corners). Also watch a video that explains how gearshifts effect your cars balance during cornering if your not used to manual/sequential shifting. @@SimRacingKez pretty good, got to D rank after a few races, starting from the pit and just riding safe. After that I tanked to 700 orating due to a lot of incidents getting cocky haha. And now grinding back to 1.2k. I m focussing on the BMW M2 CS class and joined an academy and League. I always check the AVG lap time of the races previous on the track and see if I can consistently beat it in practice. And so far it worked awesome

@@SimRacingKez @@SimRacingKez Been doing great lately, regaining most of the iRating I lost when I was starting out!Don't drop back to gain easy Safety Rating, you'll be missing the most important lessons on racecraft and most of the fun as well, to be honest! Might be frustrating in the beginning but don't give up!

That's brilliant mate, how is your journey so far? I've just literally today turned off the racing line in practice and it is NOT going well at Navarra :D

@SimRacingKez I'm seeing some progress. My friend let me borrow his g20 wheel and pedals but I'm going to get my own kit. I'm looking at the moza r3 bundle, seems to be the best beginner kit for the money. You thought about getting a cockpit?

@bennyking572 That sounds awesome mate, I'd love a cockpit but I'm not sure I'd have the room in my cupboard office lol! Might try and convince the lady to let me use the living room 😂

I've been doing the same exact thing here on KZbin for about a month. Let me tell you it gets stressful lol Would love to collaborate with you you have a great style and it seems like we're on the same journey. Also as for advice what I've learned so far is to try and just take it easy and focus on avoiding crashes and staying on the road for right now. If you can do that you'll make it through the first portion of challenges in this sim. Cheers and good luck.

That is awesome mate! I really hope you are having better luck than I am! Definitely up for a collab, when I can actually find time in this mental schedule, learning how to make videos is one thing but learning how to race as well is nuts! Really appreciate the comment mate, good luck on your journey and hit me up soon for a collab once I've got to grips with it all!
@BeyondTheApexMotorsport9 күн бұрын
@SimRacingKez yeah it definitely is all mentally taxing but you'll develop little habits that will help you not just with the racing but also with the video editing and help to make it a little bit quicker and easier on yourself. I'll keep throwing advice into the comments and you just let me know when you're ready. Cheers

I will subscribe !! My advice is to learn the fundamentals of car control, how to rotate the car with the brake and gears. Understand why certain variables affect balance and handling. With that solid foundation, you’ll be able to start planning your moves instead of reacting when it’s already too late. Take Suellio Almeida's course; it's excellent and explains car handling concepts in detail.

Started doing iRacing myself since a day or 9, after having been a member for years. Got some Gran Turismo Sport & 7 experience, together with Project Cars 2 & Assetto Corsa Competizione. Love the grind, love to see the progress I'm making. Hope you will experience the same thing. Check out this video for beginner tips: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqKal4yfbrCNsLM. I''ll keep this brief. Unless you plan on quitting your job and dedicating you entire existence to iRacing, losing all contact with friends and probably neglecting any family responsibilities, it's not realistic to think you can achieve your goal, possibly ever. There's really talented streamers who play this game every day who have never reached 5k, either road or oval. Your channel is blowing up and I'm sure there'll be hundreds of people telling you that it can be achieved, but there'll be a personal cost. Do yourself a favour and aim for something more realistic to begin with, like 2k. The grind is intense and you may soon wish you'd never started this. Unless you are sandbagging and already put 10k hours into iRacing previously... 😂
@SimRacingKez4 күн бұрын
I wish I was sandbagging mate! 😂 It would be so much easier! I get you though, it's a crazy challenge and that's why I did it really, I think setting myself a target of 2k would have been more realistic for sure, but then I wouldn't have a crazy goal to keep me motivated. I'm lucky in the fact I'm a photographer and do almost all my work in the summer, so summer will be a lot harder for sure. I appreciate your sentiments though, I've seen some of the guys on iRacing in the top races, they are ludicrously talented, I don't ever think I'll be a Max Verstappen but you've got to have some crazy goals in your life! I have a bit of an addictive personality too, which helps 😂 Appreciate you brother!

Don't use the racing line help. It mght look like it will take longer to know the track but it isn't. Also... to learn the track, do an AI race where you put the AI just a bit faster than you and start from the back. Do not overtake, just follow the last car...
