The kirtle is beautiful and yes, your sanity is more important than finishing a dress in one day :)

Beautifully done! The floral fabric pattern goes so well with the shape of the kirtle. Thank you for showing both your cutting diagrams and then how you cut the fabric. Those how-to demos are so helpful.

THIRTY FOUR EYELETS? forget sewing this in a day, I would probably take a month to finish just that part. And yes! your sanity is much more important than finishing this in a day. The fabric you chose is beautiful, and your kirtle is beautiful too! (and the pockets are an amazing, amazing addition)

Grumpy on the floor during a sewing project is such a mood and we've all been there. But it turned out super cute in the end!

I, for one, think you made good on your goal (aside: Adam Savage is fond of saying, "no one day build is actually build in a day"). Good luck on the move and the job. We'll be here when you get back.

When you do make more kirtles from this same pattern, I definitely want to see them too. Plus at least a quick peek at any differences that occur during construction, such as perhaps variations in fit you may need or ways that a different fabric may behave.

I LOVE it. So glad you went with the shorter and swooshier hem

Most CosTubers I've seen have a passion for exploring new patterns and new eras, even new regions of the world. If you have an intention to repeat one beloved pattern over and over, I think that will be very unique! And I'm interested to see how you will inevitably choose subtle alterations of trim, hemmed outlines, accessories, and fabric choices to give the overall wardrobe some variations while still playing off one basic pattern. I'm writing this comment to say, don't think that just because you're repeating a pattern you won't still have interesting content we want to see! If nothing else, it will be fascinating to watch as your skill/familiarity with this one pattern grows, to see what changes in your approach. By the time you've done five of them I have no doubt you will have discovered several shortcuts to try, ways to streamline the process, etc. BTW, if any part of you wants to do this, may I request (along side the intricate hand sewn gowns like this one) you throw in at least one quick-and-dirty gown as an example for sewists who just cannot face the hand sewing parts? All machine-sewn, metal grommets, thrifted fabrics, fake-as-hell modern-looking trims etc. as a way to help beginners feel a little more able to get involved without such a huge investment of time, effort, skill development, and money?

Wow it fits so well!! You probably did great with the pattern the first time around. It was a smart idea to make a dress you'd made before

This is the perfect push I needed to figure out how to make a modern sideless surcote now that I know how great a modern kirtle looks!

Lovely job! That fabric is beautiful! I love the goal of having a kirtle for every day of the week. Side note: Despite following you and having the bell clicked, youtube failed to tell me you had uploaded this. Naughty youtube making me miss my friend's content. I hope moving is going well!

I'd like to see the pattern for this kirttle. It looks like it would fit me better than modern patterns.

If you'd like to see an image of my pattern, you can message me on Instagram. It's very personalized to my body shape, so I don't plan to release it. However, I do also hope to make a video about how to drape a kirtle at some point in the new year!
