I think something that is really unique with KZbin is that you have literally documented all of the work you've put in over the years and shown that success is not always a linear path. Anyone who has an Olympic Dream of even just competing at the trials can view your journey and be inspired enough to believe in themselves to chase their own dreams. You made me feel so much less alone when I was relapsing hard with my ED and seeing the personal growth in you as a person throughout your recovery and chasing your dreams has meant more than any placing that happens at the trials. I know you're going to give your heart out there to try to make the team and I know I'm not the only one who genuinely believes that it's possible. Keep doing you and living in the moment with each day as they come 😊

Totally agree. But it's not just youtube. I have a podcast where I talk to people about their worklives and one time for ep.12 i sat down with a four-time Olympian. She shared her journey from the start of her career to its conclusion, and what she's been up to since leaving the Olympic stage. Hopefully, this helps everyone learn more about this exceptional career path. It was really interesting to me so I thought id share

allie, your journey is one of my favorites to follow because it’s so real. you show the ups and downs of being an athlete and i admire your perseverance to keep going no matter what. you undoubtedly deserve a spot in the olympics, but if it doesn’t work out, just know that you have inspired runners like myself to enjoy the process and have fun! :)

If you don't try for something you will never get it. So well done for putting the goal out there and doing all you can to achieve it. I went to the Olympic Trials in 2016, specifically to see you in the 5k. You ran a brave race that day, do that again. In the late 70's to Mid 80s I pursued the Olympic goal through 3 cycles. Never made it, but got close once. Did make several National Teams on XC Skiing so got a bunch of really cool (for the time) gear as a consolation prize 😀

That’s the excitement of the Olympics! If the only people who tried were the ones who knew they would make it, the run up to the Olympics wouldn’t be nearly as fun to watch. There are always people who didn’t expect to make it that do. Good luck Allie and enjoy the ride! I completely believe you can make it but most of us don’t have the talent to even try, there’s nothing embarrassing about trying and not making it just like you said. Good luck in Portland 💜💜

I continue to emphasize some pure speed work to get you ready to out kick the competition !!! Don't neglect this important final brick in the wall that gets you a top three finish as opposed to a 4th or later finish. The attitude is great for endurance but also great for improvement on Sprinting as you have less air resistance and decreasing lactate at high speed. Anaerobic muscle fibers through heavier power training is a way to increase jumping over the barriers and not slow down, which puts you in good position to place and make the Olympic team. Good luck and get after it.

@DonShields-ud8cf8 ай бұрын
I am sure her coach has a handle on this
@davidjanbaz77288 ай бұрын
@@DonShields-ud8cf yes but that doesn't mean he'll do any speed workouts like 60 meter sprints with full recovery ( 5 minutes) between reps. BTW I have been a sprinter and X- County runner in high school and college and now a masters 800 meter runner who would still do short sprints to reverse the LSD training that most distant runners emphasize for endurance training. The SC is a power event with jumping over barriers and hard landings: leg strength and power is a higher priority than just running a flat race. Leg speed counts on that last lap move than many coaches train for especially in the trials.

In response to the title of this video "Can you Make the Olympics" ....Yes.....you can definitely make the 3000 meter steeplechase and the Olympic coffee drinking competition! BTW....I loved the intro of "being a morning person who runs at 7:30 or 8 every day, which is something you and Spencer have mastered".....thank you for your great humor and making me feel better. Often in summers past, when the high would be 115, I would start running at 5 am. Not now.....if I am not running with my buds, I will leave at 10 or noon, or sometimes later, and if it is 100 degrees, there is shade in my subdivision and I don't go that far! Oh good Lord, you did the Graston foot scraping. I forgot, you are iron woman, as that reduces me to a whimper! Going to bed at 9.....I did the same, except it was 9 am on the weekends on occasion. Who knew living in Las Vegas there would be so many entertainment options! But seriously....great double workouts and I really like that you do the elliptical/arc trainer, as you are cutting out so much impact. BTW you gave excellent insights of eating food that is healthy and helps recover, and of not restricting or depleting oneself, and of hydration. Allie O.....I think with your incredible and cutting edge training, your absolutely awesome mindset, internal fortitude, and the truly great heart that you have.....I know you will run a great race, a smart race, and be competitive, and that you can do it!

I just learned of your career a few months ago, but the first thing i saw was you running at 12, and people questioning if you would keep your speed as you grew. I know that affected you deeply, and its been a thrill for the past four months to meet baby Allie the wunderkind and see you bloom in fast forward thru recovery & rebuilding. We're all cheering for you, but your numbers do not matter in the end. Im doing a Montana sports history program - one of our most legendary skiiers couldn't afford to get into olympic ski trials at all & is absent from that story, BUT Scot Schmidt became a techie type apparel designer for NorthFace (& has a role in hip hop fashion history), brought millions 💰 into our state, & oh yeah, was one of Warren Miller's freaking muses & brought thousands of people into his sport, at all levels. Olympics or not, this is just chapter one or two in an amazing life of purpose and achievement!!!
