Can I remove the wrap and refinish the Pearl set?

@@APdrums77 I hope she goes through with what she says and tries to learn. At her age, what she wants to do for career changes as much as her socks do if she goes along with the drums I am going to make sure she is set up quite wonderfully though.

Hey, great to see you! Thank goodness you're feeling better. (Good thing you quit smoking a while back, or that pneumonia would have surely been even worse.) I've just come out of a long stretch of playing my drums only minimally. I've been so busy otherwise. But I tuned the kit up and changed the configuration again, and I find myself playing more and more. Bless the drumming granddaughter! That's the best! Who knows? Maybe she'll love it so much that she'll want to work with you to remove that wrap and refinish the kit. (She probably doesn't yet know how badly SANDING SUCKS.) You should know it kind of made my day to wake up and see a new video from The Cheap Drums Guy... Ungh! Aloha, Buddy!

@@skfootit She-Rahh! Hi there, I was hoping I’d hear from you. It’s been a long time. I really need to get down there and clean up. There was spiderwebs in places and a lot of dust. I think whether or not she continues with drums I’m still going to finish the drum set. Right now I’m in kind of a lazy stretch, but I’m sure it’ll pick up once I find myself without anything to do. Trying to find some new music to go over also as I’m getting tired of playing the same thing. I’m delving in some strange territory with some of this music. If it keeps my interest up, that’s all it matters. Hope all is going well with you and out there on the big island or the little island or whatever the island is. Not quite sure where anything is in Hawaii all I know is I’m not going there. Too many sharks in those waters. Keeping salt and shark free here!

@ i’ve been listening to a lot of zydeco music lately. About 10 years ago we were up at a Creole restaurant called Pearls New Orleans kitchen up in Elk Rapids Mi. It was during fat Tuesday and they had a zydeco band in there and I thought that was just the funniest most entertaining evening I’ve had a long time. By playing along with the downstairs, I am using my brushes more and getting comfortable with those - a lot of fun.

@@CheapDrumsGuy Nice. I get a kick out of zydeco music, but I can't say I've ever played along. Hmm. 🤔 And my brush work is absolute garbage, if you ask me. I should work on that.

@@Spagz whether she takes to it or not either way her and I will have a good time together. She’s a good kid and I love spending time with her. I mentioned the wrong name and the video though her name is not Julia. That’s her mom her name is Ava actually. And to be honest with you, I don’t think we are gonna be happy with either of our presidential choices. I’m an independent. If it were up to me, Rodney Dangerfield would be in charge, but unfortunately he’s passed on now.

Hair dryer LOL...we have no hair, upstairs that requires one of those Fabio! 😂. Good to see your breathing. I hope your granddaughter runs with the drums and YOU CAN start to teach her. Did we all start with the most common beat on 1+3 or 2+4. To have someone to trust to show you the beginning ropes in something like this is a 1 in a million chance. Things will change or not soon and we will have to run with it. I'm going to try to play and not think that I already voted. Hey, maybe teaching her will even motivate you to spend some time on rudiments or something else you feel you could improve upon. (Yeah, I may be attempting to motivate myself with these words, too.)

Hey Todd! Glad you're doing better man. Just my 2 cents... I'd leave the kit the way it is for now and see if she takes to it. If she ends up getting into playing drums seriously, then maybe you venture down the road of taking off the wrap and putting in the work of making it look nicer and all that. If not, then, you didn't waste any time or effort at least.

@@Jakers80 well you’re two cents makes a lot of sense actually. Even if it came apart easily and it was easy to get at the shells without having to remove all the glue residents It still is a lot of work. More than I wanna go through right now. I’ll just keep it stacked up down the basement until she’s ready. I have enough gear to have two complete sets set up down there so maybe the next time she comes over we can have a little impromptu jazz session and go from there. Her dad is in construction, so who knows maybe he’ll want to work on it together with her as a little project one day.

@CheapDrumsGuy Ahh, that sounds like a plan. I'm sure the 2 of them would have a blast taking off the wrap and cleaning up the shells and blah, blah.. but, worth it in the end. I also think the black hardware and stained shells would look really good together.
